I hear ya. He's just a hell of a great guy. Golly Gee Shucks. Makes millions and threatens to start walk ons with a F U attitude, sits and smiles and doesnt get up and coach during the last game just thinking of how much gratitude he has over the millions he gets.
Pastner is awesome. Such an awesome human being and not too bad a coach either. I hope we sign him up for life
WTF are you talking about. He is doing what many other coaches have done when players are not playing hard the entire game. Let's them know that NO SPOT is guaranteed. The OU coach did the same thing a while back.
For those of you who are uninitiated, uninformed and unfamiliar with organized basketball at the D1 level let me just help enlighten you. It's the mark of a truly bad coach to make regular line-up changes and starting five changes this late into the season. There's no excuse. Maybe one or two games during the second half of the season you may want to "experiment" like Pastner is doing just about every game but most times a quality coach and staff will figure out pretty quickly which guys to start with and which to go with throughout the game and throughout the season.
There are several books and guides on coaching at the high school and college level. I recommend you find a couple and read them. It hopefully will help you finally see that Pastner either disregards, ignores or is just not intelligent enough to follow the generally accepted and appreciated rules and guidelines of coaching. Every single game he does things contrary to intelligent/efficient coaching. THIS is one of the main reasons why many of us say he needs to go. He just does not "get" coaching.

and there's where you let me know you never played sports. No, a coach does NOT do this in any way shape or form. Players actually care about this stuff and if they have no idea what the coach is doing then they mentally check out. It's fine to shake it up after a close win, or when the team hasn't been performing. But, when the players are literally never comfortable with their roles, you get *ahem* multiple defections and players that check out during the season, as well as problems with respecting the coach's authority, which is EXACTLY WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING.

Wow, remember when game threads used to be fun, exciting places to post how we were going to kick the snot out of someone? I guess, somehow, almost every single Tiger fan has become delusional.

Wait, I thought this was Division I, mens basketball. I didn't realize it was rec league boys basketball. WTF, going to have fun with it?? I don't want fun, I want a competetive team that wins games Josh. Your ass is on the hotseat and you spew nonsense like that?? Cmon man, you are far smarter than that.
I have coached youth teams a bunch of times. They always seem to have fun but they have the most fun when they win even if they don't play well.
Exactly, having fun is awesome. Kids have more fun winning than losing. Hell, grown men have more fun winning than losing.

Unfortunately the idiots of this board think Memphis basketball should be treated like a little league or 6th grade girls team in terms of attitudes about the coach, winning and losing, and the state of the program. Pastner tries to sell this perspective with his "I think Ive done a good job" line.

8 minutes before game time. To get this thread back on track, can we beat Houston tonight on the road? I sure hope so with all the line up changes lately.

Houston's attendance is getting better, gotta be 500 people at the game, well above their usual 450.

Starters for Memphis vs Houston: Ricky Tarrant Jr., CRAIG RANDALL(!), Markel Crawford, Dedric Lawson, Shaq Goodwin.
Yeah and anyone making excuses including Pastner himself for not playing Martin are beyond clueless. Randall is a starter now...SMH

Clearly, UH season ticket holders have grown tired of Kelvin Sampson.
