I remember a few years back, there were a lot of commentators discussing the talent on Kentuckys men's team compared to some NBA teams. How do you guys think this uconn women's team would compare to some in the WNBA?

Just as last year's Kentucky team would get creamed by even the NBA's worst team, the same I am afraid would happen if UConn went up against a WNBA team. It is not necessarily a huge difference in skill level, but the maturity and depth of a WNBA team compared to UConn would make the difference. Last night only 7 UConn players saw minutes. That just would not fly against a WNBA roster.

Agreed. Not only are they mature with deep benches, but most of the biggest WNBA stars have been coached by Geno (at UCONN and/or USA Basketball).

However, I do think that Breanna Stewart would win many one-on-one pick up games against current WNBA stars.

No question about that. I am not sure I have seen a women's player with as diverse a skill set as Breanna. She can do it all on both sides of the ball. She may not look tough, but she can bang with the best of them. This is why she is a good bet to make the Olympic team roster; and not because Geno is the coach.

This game should shut up all the people that said there is no demand for Women's basketball. UCONN women on its own will get more media rights $$$$$ than many D1A football programs. UCONN ladies are truly in a class all on their own.

It is constantly denied by posters on these and other boards.

But check this out: http://syracusefan.com/threads/looks-lik...yed.40752/

A Syracuse-Providence men's game is pre-empted on Sports New York channel for UConn women's bball, and this was because women's bball had great ratings on the channel, often beating out most network primetime shows.

A couple years ago, when Kentucky won the men's NCAA, the game did better than a 50 rating in the nation's highest market for the game, the Louisville region. A day later, the UConn women played and did a 5 rating in the NYC DMA. A lot more people watched the women play in New York than watched the UK men play in the nation's highest market.
