MyBB Lunardi Bracketology 2/8/16: 2 Teams In, 1 on the Bubble
Temple (Auto-Qualify): 12 seed in the Midwest
UCONN (At-Large): 8 seed in the East - first 2 rounds in Brooklyn (02-13-banana)

Cincinnati (Second Team in First Four Out)

If Cincinnati finishes strong this is at least a 2 bid league...with the possibility of 3.

Granted the bubble has been VERY unkind to the AAC the past few years...

I still think UC and UCONN will be in with a third still possible.

Tulsa has the schedule to make a run at an at-large bid. But we've got to win the games. And idk if we can pull that off.

Every remaining game is vital right now for UCONN, Cincinnati, Temple, and Tulsa.

UCONN's next 4 games: @ Temple, vs Tulsa, vs SMU, @ Cincinnati

Tough stretch.

Cincy probably needs at least 6 more wins to comfortably make it, we still have UConn, Tulsa, SMU to play out of the seven games we have left. None of the games that we have left on our schedule is going to be easy. I think our run of 5 yrs straight going to the tourney is over.

For sure. I'm just glad we have Brimah back. While he isn't an offensive juggernaut, he definitely has a presence on defense. The Huskies play/gel better when he is on the court.

RE: Lunardi Bracketology 2/8/16: 2 Teams In, 1 on the Bubble
If you use 21 regular season wins as the benchmark (based on the AAC’s recent at large bid history even with 21 wins I would say you need at least 1 maybe 2 tournament wins to be sure) your looking at:

UConn 17-6 needs to finish at least 4-4 and has games at Temple, UC, USF and SMU and home games with Tulsa, SMU, Houston and UCF.

Tulsa 15-8 needs to finish 6-1 and has games at SMU, UConn, Memphis and UCF and homes games with UC, Temple and USF.

Cincinnati 17-7 needs to finish 4-3 and has games at UCF, Tulsa, ECU and Houston and home games with ECU, UConn and SMU.

Temple 14-8 needs to finish 7-1 and has games at Houston, Tulsa and Tulane and home games with UConn, USF, Villanova, UCF and Memphis.

For the sake of the conference the best case scenario is UConn and Cincinnati get hot and finish very strong, and someone other than those 2 win the tournament. It’s the only realistic shot at 3. With all the top teams with games still to play against each other it's also realistic that the team with the best record wins the AAC tournament and we end up with 1. It's definitely not pretty.

Good analysis. A Temple win vs Nova would be huge BTW. Every AAC fan with be a Temple fan in that game.

At this point in my life, I'm gonna be an optimist and say we get at least 2. Because of the parity in the conference, I could see the conference tourney champion making this a 3 bid conference.

I agree, most likely 2, if things break right 3.

This league is beating up each other

This league (with the notable exception of SMU) beat up on noone in the non-conference, then beat up on each other. That's been the problem this year.

Temple beat absolutely noone with a pulse in the non-conference, then came in swinging. They are clearly a good team, but they owe the conference a win against Nova.

Tulsa got a nice win against Wichita St, but lost to Farleigh Dickinson, and was extremely inconsistent through the rest of their slate.

UConn held serve for the most part, but was a bit inconsistent as well. Beating either Cuse or Gonzaga would have made a big difference for them. They have the best OOC resume (non-SMU division) by far.

UC nailed VCU on the road and got GW at a neutral site, but threw away 2 really good opportunities by shooting themselves in the foot at the end of games, meaning their OOC resume is just meh.

Houston didn't play hardly anybody, and Memphis has Pastner, and SMU got banned.

Add it all up, and you have a conference that is struggling to find teams to be able to enter in the NCAA tournament and certainly none that are poised to get a high seed.

Gonzaga at SMU

Villanova at Temple

There is two chances to make a statement as a conference. Two wins and the entire conference is elevated.

Teams not even listed as IN and not on a bubble got left out the last 2 years.

Louisville and SMU are out so that is 2 additional spots though
