If Tulane's former A.D. was still in charge, I would be uncertain as to Conroy's future status with Tulane. But the new guy that we just brought in from Northern Iowa does not seem like the sort to calmly accept 6 years of mediocrity. (Leaving aside the fact that "mediocrity" would be an improvement right about now).

I don't know who the candidates would be for replacement. But now that Tulane is in a serious MBB league again, I really do believe we will spend some legitimate $$ and bring in someone with instant credibility.

I know New Orleans/south LA has phenomenal football talent, but do you guys have basketball talent, too?

UC's 4-star freshman Jacob Evans is from the NO/South LA area. Averaging like 7 & 4 for UC this year. Going to be a player.

There are a few typos in that graphic. Sept 10th is the Saturday. Assuming they're starting weeks on Saturdays. Just oddly formatted other than that.

Interesting. I also note that Memphis is the only AAC team with three Friday night games.

Something that jumps out at me is on the Eastern side how late the bye week comes for everyone with the exception of UC. All are in the month of November, depth will definitely be tested.

Its not just the east. We (Houston) caught a late season November bye week as well.

Nice. 21 P5 opponents. Only 11 G5 opponents. That's almost twice as many P5 games as G5 OOC games. We need to get rid of those 12 FCS games....Houston will be playing their last FCS opponent this year....though selfishly, I am going to miss often having 7 home games.

A year after a final 4. And so Syracuse hired his assistant, Jim Boeheim.
And final 4 Danforth took over a pretty good Tulane team, immediately turned it to mush, and we were good again the year after he was fired. I guess we know who the brains of that 1975 Syracuse final 4 team was.
We're playing a lot of freshmen now; they're pretty athletic, but they heave too many 3s. A good defensive coach could do a lot more with these players. I'm thinking they'll look hard at the UALR guy...good pedigree, kind of a late starter; sort of a similar background as Fritz.
Louisiana has good basketball players. You have to deal with AAUs and there are some academic issues. But the best TU players of our good teams from the 1990s were from La.

Okay so there are 9 games (not 10) scheduled between ACC and AAC:

1. Tulane @Wake Forest
2. N.C. State @ECU
3. Virginia @UConn
4. South Florida @Syracuse
5. ECU @Virginia Tech
6. Syracuse @UConn
7. Florida State @South Florida
8. Louisville @Houston
9. UConn @Boston College

Better than having the bye in Week 2.

I would imagine they are including Notre Dame vs Navy since they are affiliated. It actually looks like Notre Dame is included in both numbers.

I agree that might have been the case, except then the "Independents - 5" would need to be reduced to 4:

1. Navy vs. Notre Dame
2. Navy vs. Army
3. Tulane @UMass
4. BYU @Cincinnati
5. Army @Temple

One way or the other, all 12 teams in the American are scheduled to play 4 OOC games, which totals up to 48 and not 49 as the graphic indicates. My guess is that either Notre Dame (Ind./ACC) or Maryland (ACC/B1G) was counted twice by mistake.

I'm glad that SU plays AAC teams fairly regularly. I like the conference because of its roots. I especially like playing old BIG EAST foes, and I've always liked playing Tulane, even though we never shared a conference.

If the big 12 were to take UCONN and BYU then our best choices are simple, we go to 14 by adding Rice, UTSA and Wichita State thus becoming much more stable.

Oh hell no.

The best outcome should we lose those two is ending up with the 3 academies. My guess, something like Army and UMass in the east. That give Army a division with decent geography where they might have a few games where they can be competitive.

Once Army is in place, you can probably attract Air Force if your willing to take Colorado St as well. Both AF and CSU would be full all-sports members (if they want).

With 2-3 football-only members, you'd have room to add Wichita and maybe VCU as non-football members to add some extra strength to the basketball side of the conference. At that point, you have a pretty solid conference, with a an actual national identity of solid academics and the academies, reasonable travel, and good media value.

If the AAC loses any 1 or 2 members to Big 12, they would be some of the strongest members, leaving the conference less appealing. Just what would the incentive be for Air Force and CSU to leave their home base, and join the AAC? I don't see it.
