78,000-square foot Student Activity Center (SAC), which also serves as an indoor practice facility for the A-State football team.

If things go according to plan App will be enlarging their indoor facility in a year or two.

The field is not full regulation. I believe it's 80 yards?

If I counted the 5 yard lines correctly using the 360 degree view it looked to be 60 yards or so long. The road is the only access to the building from that side. I guess they could cut back on some of the mountain, but I don't see the room for much addition without some major grading work, not that it can't be done.

Our stadium is indoors. We have an outdoor practice facility next to it. It's nice.

We don't have one at South and haven't heard any substantial rumors of us building one. We talk a lot about it on JagsJungle 247 and most think one is in the planning, but that's all.

It's only 80 yards and not much wider than the actual field. The site was dug out until rock was hit. At the time it was as good or better than anything in FCS and a lot in FBS. Talk is the university is attempting to buy the old Watauga HS site. It has, albeit a little run down after 7 years of neglect, all the facilities App needs in one location. The bones are there, but major renovation and bringing up to collegiate specs is needed. The plan is to move the softball field, track, soccer field, tennis courts and possibly weight room out there. Then expand the IPF over the site of the softball field which is adjacent to it. I would like to see the old football stadium converted into a practice facility and use KBS for game day. Most players live off campus these days and parking at KBS is tight.

Thanks, makes sense then.

RE: Indoor practice facilities
Only mention of one for TXST was a disjointed email Teis sent back in December when asked if he had met with Fran about his job. I mean, the email was just a grade school mess of thoughts that didn't mesh and just another way to blame fans for not seeing the whole picture. Anyway, here's one paragraph where Teis mentions an indoor facility.

Quote:We always have to stress academics and compliance first, then focus on wins and losses on the field. Traveling around the country attending football games and also visiting other campuses in the State of Texas, we still have a need for new and updated facilities, such as a larger weight room and an indoor practice facility. You saw that indoor at Arkansas state. Lafayette has an indoor also. You saw the recent blurb in the Statesman. I would ask you, do your research. Tell me what enrollment size of a university has to do with wins and losses? What does academic quality have to do with wins and losses? We have strong academic standards and a small academic support staff. Out all all FBS football playing schools, we may have the toughest standards compared to the size of the support staff. If it was enrollment size, Baylor and TCU would not be the two best in the state per CFP (College Football Playoff) rankings the past few years.

Yes, we know, it doesn't sound like a PhD toting AD.

Location, location, location. As in real estate your IPF should be near the athletic performance center and that is where ours is. Both facilities are about forty yards from the stadium end zone. I'm loving our new end zone project, new APC attached to the IPF, and the to come fan plaza adjacent to all three.

I am neutral on them. Outside of lightning I think it is good to practice in the elements most of the time. I see them more as a recruiting tool more than a need for teams in the deep south.

AppmanDG, or any App fan who knows, whats going on with the high school site, I heard rumors last year that we had some land that the town wanted, and maybe we could use it to work out some kind of deal to get the high school, but that's the last I of heard anything.
