For us (Marshall) I would say it's (in this order):
1. WKU
2. MTSU
3. Southern Miss
I think ODU may be at some point, and Charlotte would make sense as well some day...

Yeah kinda feels like you guys are relics of a bygone C-USA and refuse to forget it the way the other holdovers have, probably due to tenure.
Rice slogs through alignment and rolls with the punches. POOR UTEP is on an island surrounded by crappy MWC and sun belters. Marshall thinks they are waaaaaaaaay better, relevant than they are . Don't think anybody forgot the MAC conference jumping, SoS, don't even get me started.
The MUTS will always be our biggest rival and vice versa, and that is the best thing C-USA version 9,000 inherited: an in tact rivalry that ESPN has covered and fan bases care about. I'm sure they and odu are the only reason we are here anyway.
WKU rivals: Middle, Marshall, and you guys (SMU) after the incessant smack and butthurtitude. In bball, I hope ODU (call it the Selig Cup) and UAB

But the whole point of a rivalry is that the 2 fanbases do give a crap. It's a backyard brawl for those 2 schools and it's the same for UTEP/NMSU. No one outside our 2 fanbases care at all but we sure do. Do you actually think others in the conference worry about your rivalries?

I have no idea why the stupid assess that are running this conference didn't do a rematch of the 2014 championship game last year. Tech and Marshall would've made way too much sense to do last year so I guess that's why it didn't happen. I think if we ever started playing, Tech and Marshall would be a good showcase for the conference.

UNT doesn't really have any rivals. But if I had to choose in terms of history and potential rivalries...
Middle Tenn - While they are pretty far from us, we had a good little rivalry going in the Sun Belt. Always kind of considered them a rival.
LA Tech - If we get our S together, I think this has good potential due to proximity and battling for area recruits.
UTSA - No history, but some similarities in terms of both being large public institutions. Plus, it's not terribly far.

Other than Western Kentucky-Middle Tennessee, are there any rivalries between CUSA schools in which both are each other's biggest rivals? I presume Florida Atlantic-Florida International?

I'll play.. Every Southern Miss fan and his brother wants to beat Marshall. 5 straight defeats to those guys after dominating them early in their conference usa days has left a sour taste in our mouths. Then UAB was turning into some hate. La Tech and Southern Miss is turning into something special. Our closest rivals are in the American we are NOT! Time to move on from that and deal with the now!

You mean the preferential treatment that UAB (so says La Tech) gets in basketball hasn't vaulted UAB to La Tech's Enemy #1?
That has certainly helped.
idk about Southern Miss just yet, give it time and it will get to be a decent rivalry. My money is on UTSA as the strongest rivalry for LA Tech in the future. That thing had gasoline and matches all over from the opening kickoff in 2012.

Our rivalry may be nothing more than a blip on the minute G5 radar, but it is a legitimate rivalry, which is hard to come by in this league.
We've played Western 64 times, Marshall has played the other 13 members of CUSA a combined 57 times.
Our 64 games with Western are nearly split with Middle leading 33-30-1, Marshall's most played rival, Ohio(59 games), Marshall trails 20-33-6.
You just don't understand what it's like to be a part of a real rivalry and that's okay, I just hope that someday you can have a rivalry with a nickname born on the message boards and actually see that fan created name used on television, it's pretty great.

Unlike what some of my fellow Southern Miss fans state:
Is your team in Conference USA at the moment in some sport that USM participates in?
Did you answer yes for your team? Then Congratulations!!! then YOUR team is a rival of USM, whether or not you or other USM fans admit it... I want my boys to break you down each and everygame so you go home whimpering :)

The programs that have played enough to generate any semblance of rivalry:
MT/WKU
FAU/FIU
UTEP/NT
LaTech/USM
Make that the schedule for C-USA's rivalry Saturday every November; Add Marshall/ODU, UAB/Charlotte, & Rice/UTSA.

RE: Now that we all know each other...WHO'S YOUR RIVAL IN CUSA???
Southern Miss's most heated rivalry that fans enjoyed was with Louisville. Sadly, for us, they went on to greener pastures.
The administrations tried to manufacture rivalries with Tulane (that stupid bell) and Memphis (black and blue game)... but they were so one-sided that fans didn't really see them as intense rivalries (we lead the all-time series against Memphis 40-22-1 and we lead the all-time series against Tulane 23-7).
So, now the push is to make Louisiana Tech our rival. I've enjoyed the recent games... they've been very competitive. I'm sure they will try to build UAB up when they return as well... but the road will be long for them. But as someone else said... USM fans always want to beat Marshall. And that's really out of respect... similar to the respect we had for ECU. We don't hate Marshall and ECU, but we respect that they regularly put up strong football teams.
