Next season UAB will be able to fill in gaps we find this spring and fall and target some quality guys. Plus, we won't have to fight the "you won't play for a whole season" line.

Do the UAB signees get, in effect, a free year? Meaning does next year not count against the 5 to play 4 timetable? If it doesn't, you could have a number of 6 year players in a couple of years. Be prepared for the excuses for your success being the presence of all those old men on your squad from a couple of fan bases that will remain nameless.

We'll take success whichever way it comes. When I hear excuses, I'll yell scoreboard.

I don't blame you. Your success is good for the conference. Some however will whine about your guys having that extra year.

I just saw that UNT finished 8th according to 247. To go from #14 to #8 in less than a month is miracle work. Really excited to see where Littrell takes this thing.

Shoot, Tennessee jumped up like 20 spots nationally in the last couple days. The whole thing is way too touch-and-go for my taste. I'd rather see some kind of national clearinghouse process like medical schools use, where recruits and schools each list their top choices and a committee sorts it all out. Should be geographical, too. Crazy talk, I know. Could never work.

When they do, I'll once again tell them they're more than welcome to follow the Ray Watts model of success.

Any takers?

I understand that the conference has changed the tie breaker to host the CCG; now it's best recruiting class.

Marshall may be at first on 247 sports for now, but don't be surprised if that changes between now and this summer when UAB will likely sign another 7 or so players towards this class. UAB has already signed another 3-star DB since signing day.

Being first because you sign 50 recruits doesn't really count.

I see your point 24... But I think as a conference we need to be happy for UAB. They did something that I believe has never happened in college football. I am completely behind them. Their football program was destroyed by callous, vindictive dicks who have an elephant trunk up heir chocolate wizwang...

The school and alumni rallied around the cause and resurrected it... And made those that dared to destroy their program look like 5 monkeys trying to fark a football...and good for them. Anyone can feel as they will, but I, for one, allow them a ton of leeway. We don't need a startup in CUSA...we need a competitive UAB to return...

As much crap as we give each other, we need all of the teams in this conference to be as strong as possible. So I say bravo UAB...we will just have to work very hard to beat you on the field

Yea you guys need to be cheering for us. UAB bowl eligible will be the best ending to our story and hopefully the beginning is something big. I hope we can establish ourselves as a P5 giant killer conference.

I never said I wasn't happy for them. Hell, i want every cusa school to land some great players and elevate our conference. I was just pointing out that pts from 50 players doesn't make you #1.
