Week 6 of Sun Belt basketball (Mon, 2/1 thru Sun 2/7)
Well the conference season is about half over now.
Here are the current Warren Nolan RPIs with only D1 records

9-1 Little Rock (17-2 overall) --------------------- 51
7-3 Louisiana (9-8 overall) ----------------------- 139
6-4 ULM (8-11 overall) --------------------------- 191
6-4 Ark. St. (8-11 overall) ----------------------- 236
5-4 UTA (13-6 overall) ---------------------------- 113
5-5 Ga. State (10-7 overall) ---------------------- 126
4-6 South Alabama (7-12 overall) ---------------- 227
4-6 Ga. Southern (6-12 overall) ------------------ 263
4-6 App. St. (6-15 overall) ------------------------ 246`
3-6 Texas St. (7-9 overall) ------------------------ 274
1-9 Troy (4-15 overall) ---------------------------- 317

Currently the Sun Belt is rated as the #17 conference (of 32)

Here are this week's games:

Tuesday, 2/2:
ULM at Louisiana

Thursday, 2/4:
UTA at Ga. Southern
Louisiana at App. St.
Texas St. at Ga. State
Troy at Little Rock
South Alabama at Ark. St.

Saturday, 2/6:
UTA at Ga. State
Texas St. at Ga. Southern
ULM at App. St.
South Alabama at Little Rock
Troy at Ark. St.

Added feature this week-- my top 3 and bottom 3 (regardless of conference record)

Top 3: 1. Little Rock 2. Louisiana 3. ULM
I know that is same order as standings but I think RIGHT NOW these are 3 best playing teams in the league

Bottom 3-- 1 being worst
1. Troy (should be no argument here) 2. Texas St. (season seems to be slipping away) 3. UTA (I know they are not bottom 3 in standings but their season seems to be headed south fast)

General rule is, no matter how bad Arkansas State basketball is, they still beat South Alabama. Time to see if that holds true Thursday.

Time for an exception to the rule... Or a new rule. Haha

Even when you guys win in this series, it's weird. Last year you guys got up by 30 points in Jonesboro in the next to last game of the season. We were pretty much already eliminated from tourney contention at this point and playing for pride. Somehow, we got that to a 4 point game late, but couldn't get over the hump.

You guys and Texas State are the only Sun Belt teams that have wining records over us (we're even 1-1 with Coastal). I'm hoping one of these days we get things rolling again before everyone else catches up. ULM and App have a chance to do it this year.

I'm not sure what it is about Ark State, but we do struggle against you guys, in most sports.

state 18-23
Little Rock 28-17
Georgia Southern 7-3
Georgia State 13-10
ULL 26-22
ULM 11-10
UTA 8-2
Texas State 1-4
Troy 19-7
App State 2-1

No doubt going into last weeks game South had a one game advantage and coming out tied with Cajuns at 26-26.

Well, your media guide counts the wins in 2004/05 which were vacated, so technically you are correct. Apparently our media guide erased those wins.

Going to OT, which is exactly what the GSU's did two weeks ago. Worked out well for App on Thursday.

The Cajuns will need a seventeen game winning streak and help to end up regular season champs. That IMO makes Lil'Rock a prohibitive favorite at this point.

Well, Monroe didn't help us out any last night. But they tried. OT on the road.

Do they not have any bench at all? Did you see the minutes their starters played?

If my Mavericks can break their slide this weekend we will be in good shape the rest of the season. We just have to find a way to get by on defense without much size. Where are your schools finding all these guys 6' 10" and above? We last had a big man a couple seasons ago, but he transferred out.

We are much more likely to run the table on our schedule than they are. You are assuming they won't drop another game but they still have to travel to Louisiana and ULM...both undefeated at home.
