As far as UT arrogance, at least they've accomplished something. Aggies are just as arrogant and have to make up championships.

Not here to change your mind, your experience/opinion are your experience/opinion..

In my experience, there's no arrogance like Longhorn arrogance . . . Period.

As far as Aggies . . . you can say an awful lot about 'em . . . and the Jokes about A&M are endless, but I'd hardly call them arrogant . . . . if anything, they seem to have more of an inferiority complex where TU is concerned . . . . though I must admit, I've seen less of that since they joined the SEC . . . . But that's just my experience and my .02 cents . . . .

At one point in my childhood I was a UT fan, then I noticed all of my Mexican side of the family was as well so I switched to A&M and really hated UT because I have to be contrary and stayed that way until my senior year when I took a tour of A&M. Then I discovered the inferiority complex you speak of. I swear the tour guide talked more about UT than A&M. That, along with other experiences turned me off of A&M big time and made me dislike UT less for some reason. Then I went to TXST!02-13-banana

Worked my way through school, got accepted to UT as a transfer student, found a job in Austin and was just getting ready to sign an apartment lease . . . . Took a campus visit (of UT) . . . they had the attitude of: If you come here, great . . . If you don't we're fine with that as well .. . and the arrogance came through loud and clear . . . . Friend told me about an upcoming Bobcat Days . . . Went, did the campus tour. . . Honestly, I don't know if they really cared about me coming to San Marcos or not, but they at least "acted like they cared." Since I was going on MY Dime, that was enough for me . . . I kept the job in Austin (couldn't find anything in SM that paid as well), found an apartment in San Marvelous, and became a Bobcat . . . Best decision of my life . . . . Never looked back, and No Regrets . . . . 04-cheers

Try being a UT Arlington fan. We have no football and until recently many of the students didn't care much about our teams. It is starting to change now, but I still get questions from my Horned Frog wife and in-laws about why I don't support TCU football. I have a few teams I like to watch, but I won't support another team until my Mavericks are back on the gridiron.

As for "life as a G5 fan" I find it an awful lot like it was for me as a fan of a I-AA school. I just never really cared much what other people said or thought. Still don't.

Well, I mean, that school did provide you with an education and a degree that you certainly continue to claim to this day.

Wait till you run across the alum who actually talks down about his own degree, seeing it as a sign that he failed to get into Georgia.

Wearing GSU polo always get..

"Are you a coach?"

"No I actually went there and am a fan"

I've gotten this one before.

Under Armour and Adidas aren't sold at Wal Mart, so I can understand the confusion.
I doubt anyone in a Georgia polo gets asked if they are a coach. :)

The puzzled look is them trying to figure out why you would be a fan of anyone but Georgia or an SEC school.

I am not much of a tcu fan because I get tired of their coach whining about how they dont get much respect and should be a top 10 program. after uta beat them a couple of times in football and was beginning to look like the better program, they cancelled the rest of the scheduled games. they had some crappy coaches back then. their fans are very supportive but not as arrogant as the teasips. at least tcu will play us in everything. I do root for them against most of the teams they play.

You've not dealt with anything until you've dealt with Pig.

At least UGA, Alabama, Texas, UNC, South Carolina, and LSU occasionally win things.

We hear non-stop Pig and they've never even won an SEC title.

Yeah... It would be different if the school made you pay for that education.... no, wait.

I don't care what school you support or why. Your reasons are your own.

I just want more fans of my school, whether they attended the university or they saw it on the way to the river.

And before you ask, I support my school because

1) I'm a masochist
2) I love football
3) It brings back oh so fuzzy but wonderful memories of when I was either on the field or in the stands, and
4) If I could go back to school like I used to be in school, I'd do it in a heartbeat. (meaning, if I went back to class now, I'd be the creepy old drunk guy, instead of the creepy drunk guy)

This is something that most others in our conference won't get, and why (IMO) it can be especially frustrating to be a Rd Wolf in Arkansas. At least in Texas, Alabama, Georgia, e.t.c., they're accustomed to meeting/knowing people who are both a) college football fans and b) a fan of a different in-state program. Texas v.s. A&M, Alabama v.s. Auburn, Georgia v.s. GT.

I've had people ARGUE with me when I tell them I'm not a Razorback fan.

Him: "How 'bout them Hogs?

Me: "Oh, I'm not a Razorback fan."

Him: "Oh, so you don't like college football? You more of an NFL guy?"

Me: "No... I love college football."

Him: "Oh, so you DO like the Hogs..."

Me: *facepalm*

TCU won't play us in men's basketball. They stopped doing games with us just before we opened CPC. We pretty much only play them in baseball now.

Heh.... Try dealing with three of the most insufferable fan bases ever in existence. In Huntington, we have to deal with all of the UK degenerates, the WVU rodeo ass-clowns, and the Ohio State dunderheads.... It's maddening.

I mean, within a 3 1/2 radius, we have 5 P5 schools (OSU, UK, Louisville, WVU, and VaTech)... The Louisville and VaTech fans are pretty cool, but the others... Sheesh.

I can't say I've ever actually talked to a SMU, Rice, or UH fan. I have a coworker that went to UNT but he doesn't pay much attention to them and is an Aggie fan. A UNT alum I encountered at Academy commented on my TXST pullover, he was surprised at how nice it was and then asked "so what is yalls enrollment now? about 4k?" He couldn't believe it when I said it was about 40k lol. Dude was either a troll or just had no idea but even when my mom was at TXST in the early 80s our enrollment was in the low 20s. I think.

Just saw a video on texasfootball.com where they tried to pick the gem from every school's class. I'll paraphrase what they said about TXST: TXST head coach Seth Litrell (UNT coach) had to scramble to recruit but he managed to keep 6'5" WR Bates (offered greyshirt, went to SHSU) who could be a #1 WR one day.

The guy talking admitted to googling all of this as he was doing the radio show. Talk about good research.

In his defense all of that clearly has to do with the state of Texas and the sport of football...so...
