Isn't he the Canadian kid? If so, getting here for second semester is important for him.
He needs as much exposure to U.S. caliber football as possible.
It's hard enough to go from FB in the states to FBS; tougher for kids from Canada.
Canadian All American = Michigan JV = Texas/Florida Freshman
In all seriousness, I hope the kid turns into an All MAC performer. Would love to hear the recruiting story behind it all. Just don't get it.
I don't know if Sidy Sow is soft but he's got size at 6'5" 300lbs
Good place to start. Quick feet and hip flex the key with these big guys. All his highlights (which are very few) show him at DT, although I thought we were recruiting him at OT?
Much rather start him at OT and see what he's got. Let him run some practice reps against Harris and Crosby and they'll find out very quickly if he's anywhere near ready to play at this level.
Hey, we seem to have found a DITR in mammoth true frosh Steve Nielsen, so you never say never.

RE: 2017 Football Recruiting
Diamond in the rough........YES
Haha
As a true frosh, Nielsen showed real promise, and got a lot of great game reps. Should be a huge part of the OLine for the next 3 years. Walked in physically ready to go from Day 1 which is unusual at his age. Very strong, with a mean streak from the get go. 6'8 and 320! From Denmark, just needs more experience, but a great future.
Curious to see if he has the feet, and can develop the technique to anchor one of the tackle spots. I think they put him at guard this year just to simplify things, and not leave him outside on an island.
Huge spring for that kid. Glad to have him.
If Sidy Sow shows up with anywhere near the potential that Nielsen showed, that will be great news for an OLine looking for OT help.

Told someone once I got 'smart' when Google was invented.

I think the story broke 1/1/17.
I have him listed in the first post of this thread.

Great size, good looking athlete, big hitter.
Neathery stockpiling the back end of the D. Still need at least 1 corner, at least for depth.

Highly unlikely Big10 decommits are going to flip down to the MAC.
The guys we should be talking to right now include 2 of their 3 remaining 3 star commits, both of which we've actually offered. Luke Sanders a 6'4 WR from Indiana, and TreShaun Hayward a LB from Ann Arbor.

Yes you are correct, wonder what size this class will be? Remember the mid year JUCOs can count against LAST year's total if we have that were unused, of course by the end of July the maximum is 85 scholies. I believe I counted 14-15 seniors leaving.

Technical point:
The mid-years MUST count against 2016 scholarships. Can't use a 2017/18 school year scholarship for a player within the 2016-17 school year.
IF there is no available 2016-17 scholarship for the h.s. kid who enrolled early, he has to pay his own way for winter semester. Think that is a 'green shirt' or 'blue shirt' or something. Starts early and then signs in February for 2017/18 school year scholarship.
That said, I don't see a problem. We had scholarships for Winston, Justin N., etc who would have taken unused 2016/17 scholarships.

So we only have 11, plus a bunch of dead weight still on the roster. Plenty of room to add 10 more if we were recruiting like the PJ Fleck's of the world.
