RE: WKU -Game Thread-
I don't understand why coach deviated from his substitution pattern. If its not broke why try and fix it.

Can't get off to slow starts and always pull it out in the end. Going down 40-26 in the first half provided enough cushion for the WKU win...

Telling comments from Aaron Cosby postgame – said Tops felt UAB was looking past them toward Marshall. That made the difference.
Possible. Certainly seemed we weren't playing as crisply as usual. We normally aren't so careless with the ball and normally do a better job on the offensive glass. Just didn't seem like our guys were very much into this game.

Lets talk stats. Points off of turnovers. UAB 11. WKU 24. Duh! It hurt, the mistakes. Lots of goofs cost lots of points, this evening. Ten games left in conference play before the conference tournament, six on the road, four at home.

RE: WKU -Game Thread-
Hey, we were not gonna go undefeated throughout the regular season. We lost. It happens. So now we need to prepare for a totally different style of play against Marshal. If we take care of business we still have, essentially, a 2 game lead on everyone else. Hopefully, this lost can get the guys focused on playing a complete game. We'll need it against a Marshall team that's never out of it because they keep on shooting...
BTW, SMiss beat UTEP 71-58.

It shows Madison played two minutes. I thought Baxter played a bit too much, 28 minutes. No offense intended, Baxter.

I think those are very astute comments by coach haase. This team hasn't played a complete game all year. When we are clicking, we are very good - top 25, NCAA tourney team good. However, we still struggle with mental lapses for large parts of games. If we can ever play a complete game or start playing close to a complete game, we will really start to shine.

1st half defense
2nd half.. numerous chances to get the lead
18 minutes into the 2nd half WkU only 4 fouls
Bring on Marsha for 1st place

Wku hadn't played at home in 3 weeks. When I saw that, I knew we were in for a long night.

Will we ever learn to defend a ball screen?
I agree that the missed 3 on 1 break away by Baxter was huge for momentum.
Where was Dirk?

There are 3 teams that have the all time record handily over WKU, since 1949. Vandy is 11-1. ; The Vile is 26-8. And the only other team with a 10+ game series advantage against the toppers was us. We now hold a 20-11 advantage . We are 6 wins and 8 losses against WKU in their building.

Our game was on ESPN's streak for the cash. When I saw that I knew we were in trouble.

We either start games off slow or end them slow and give up big leads. We need to learn to play a consistent, complete game. If we can do that, we are better than anyone else in this conference.

So is Western. I don't buy the youth excuse anymore. This team is sophomores and juniors. Almost everyone has played at least 55-60 D1 games.
It's difficult to win on the road in conference play. Has nothing to do with youth. We will lose again on the road, maybe Saturday. Maybe in Ruston. It's a part of the game.
I agree. This team isn't young anymore. Our sophomores have played a lot of minutes, more than traditional second year players. The rest of our team that plays is comprised of juniors and seniors.
