RE: James Madison - Game Thread
Gave the Dukes fans a night to sleep on last night's game before delivering this sick burn just now:

"I'm hearing Coach Keatts gave Flemmings a PS4 for his performance, as he put up a video game-esque stat-line last night."

It was released in 2013, lol. What, is a 29-year old not supposed to know one of the 2 most popular system that current people in their 20s play?

More than OK with that. Haha. I always get a kick out of the fact that NYC radio stations still make Seinfeld references. Those will never get old for me.

I don't think it's just Bruiser. Drexel has a ton of schools in Philly to recruit against. That can't be easy.

Bruiser did run UMASS into the ground after they were riding high from Calipari and he had literally nobody to recruit against there. If you can't recruit locally, you find your hotbed somewhere else. Keatts has found tons of local guys right in the backyards of the big boys here.

Well Bruiser is the least attractive coach in Philly to play for, because of the style of play. So it goes both ways. Sure, their gym being tiny is another huge factor, along with the success the A-10 schools have been having, but they likely can't do much about those factors at the moment. Find a young and hungry coach who can recruit effectively outside of Philly, and eventually with success, the Philly players will come too.

Well, Hart didn't respond to my jab on their board last night at halftime and hasn't responded to yours today. Probably why we were encouraged to drop the hammer on him by HyperD.

I will chime in, even though I said it was rhetorical and not to respond to it. Bruiser is part of the problem, but not the only problem. He is a great recruiter and a sh*tty coach (x's and o's). His style wears on players over the course of a season and career. He has positives but surely has negatives too. He is coaching this year like he has been defeated (with the new rule changes) and lost his fire on the sidelines, and that is not a good thing. Of course it is time to move on but he has one year left and I doubt they cut ties before then.

AD plays a huge role as stated earlier by SN08 and our AD couldnt give a rats ass about mens basketball. The culture at Drexel is a melting pot of engineering students who mostly dont care about sports. It is a hard sell anyhow. Impossible with the current regime, and that goes well beyond Bruiser. Getting a young and hungry coach sounds great and definitely needed, but I dont think anyone has any faith in that becoming a reality. To make a good hire you have to have people who can scout good talent, then convince them to come into a losing situation (with fans, arena etc). Thats tough to do. The only highlight to anyone to come in, is the lack of administrative pressure to actually get results.

So yes well aware the valley wont start heading up until Bruiser is no longer here, but the peaks could take quite a bit of time to ever see. We had opportunities to take those steps under Bruiser a few years ago and flopped bad and now we are in some serious trouble. I do expect to have a new coach after next season, but I do think we hold onto our lame duck coach and screw it up further (on the recruiting side of things).

/Now back to JMU...

Sorry to hear that dan. I don't like to see programs have AD's/Presidents/Chancellors who don't seem to care about them. That's the hardest thing to fix.

Yes it does! If that is the case at Drexel you have our deepest sympathies. Apathy by those in charge is the worst

Trustees and alumni have to care, and that will force the administration to care.

Absolutely. As far as the alumni they are talking with their wallets this year so we shall see if it matters, although nobody has been given any indication it is working. For your game after the blizzard paid attendance was 332 (with a head count of 74 from one who was there). Last nights week night home game with students in session showed 962 paid attendance. That means season ticket holders are below 400, which is an incredible number and clearly sends a message, again whether it means anything time will tell.

That's all fine and good, but you also need to consider a campaign to let your administration know that despite the low attendance, there are a lot of supporters out there who hate the direction the program is headed and are committed to working alongside the university to make it better.

It's clear that the fans are apathetic right now, of that there can be no doubt. But all that could do is provide confirmation bias to the administration that athletics don't matter, which is not at all the case.

Not to speak for Hart, as I don't really know him, but I doubt he has ANY evidence to back up what he was saying. I just wanted to see if anyone had legit info!

I'm sure he doesn't. Also, there's zero evidence linking any such possibility. Haters gonna hate. Thanks for being civil on the matter and allowing us to rib on Hart so much. Also, from now on we'll do our best to keep the target on Hart instead of the JMU masses. Looking forward to the rematch at UNCW.

It will be interesting to see how both JMU and UNCW respond after this game. JMU can show how good they are with W&M though at home for them and you guys have Charleston who is playing much better lately.

Like the brand of ball at UNCW these days. Win or lose, the way your
team is handling it's business looks solid.
