How would you feel about a P5 invitation.....
I saw this on the realignment board and thought it relevant because both are former Big East members and with the talk about B12 expansion. Is the money received from moving to a P5 conference worth becoming irrelevant or worse yet a punchline in your two revenue producing sports?

Just curious to hear the fans and alumni perspective.

Houston never has been and never will be the joke that Rutgers is so I don't know if you can make the comparison.

This.

Consider this for a moment: If Rutgers goes 6-6 in the B10 they are eligible to go to a more prestigious bowl than the AAC champion if they do not get the Access Bowl.

Not a real high burden. In fact Rutgers did it last year after having a losing record in the AAC the year before.

Yeah, but how is perpetually going 6-6 or 5-7 enjoyable?

Rutgers football finished last season at 4-8 with their only wins coming against Norfolk State, Kansas, Indiana and Army. Their average margin of loss in their BIG games was over 23 points. How many years would you put up with that kind of performance along with an 0-fer in conference hoops play?

The money is too big to overlook but I’m not sure which I would choose, I just know that during all the very down years of Temple football the only thing keeping me from cancelling my season tickets was the basketball team competing for an A10 title every year and making the NCAA 6 years in a row from 2008 – 2013.

Rutgers and BC both have very small fan bases and neither are really brand name athletic departments, despite being in the P5. I have no reason to think UConn would perform as poorly as they do and every reason to think it would be quite the opposite result.

It is hard to be a consistent force in football in the northeast. Just not much D-1 talent.

Classic: "Sadly, but not amazingly, when the incident was revealed, all that anyone had to say was, “It’s Rutgers” and everyone understood."

Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey have a ton of talent (more than enough for the limited amount of FBS schools in the area). The problem lies in those Northeastern schools either making bad hires (ie Pasqualoni at UCONN) or making a quality hire only for that coach to get offered a better gig (ie O'Brien at Penn State).

As far as Rutgers is concerned, there is absolutely ZERO reason for them to suck as much as they do. It's all about their Athletic Department/University leadership.

rather see my team go 6-6 and play another P5 team in a decent bowl than see UC go 8-4 or 9-3 and play CUSA in a bowl

If you have the money, you can.

1. Hire and retain quality coaches
2. Have better facilities than those that don't
3. Spend more or recruiting.
4. Spend more on promoting your product.

If Rutgers does not perform well after a few years, clean house. If coach after coach fails, replace the A.D.

Take the money and run.

The money and exposure is better, I still think it should be a level playing field for all fbs playing schools , equal money and opportunities to play for all the marbles.
The ncaa needs to be overhauled

I'd be overjoyed. But, the fact that it hasn't happened yet (and may not for all we really know) won't ruin my life.
