Clemson
For all of us old timers, you'll be interested to know that Brad Brownell's Clemson squad dropped a loss on Duke earlier this week then followed it up with an 11 point win over #8 Miami today. That's two wins for Clemson this week vs top ten opponents.

Part of a 5-game winning streak for Coach B as well. Previously Clemson had won vs FSU, @ Syracuse, and vs Louisville.

Impressive run they're making right now, though, amazingly, they still have work to do to push their resume into at-large bid territory. A fairly weak non-conference schedule will do that to you...

At 7-5 coming into ACC, who expected this from Clemson? They had a weak schedule and several bad losses.

I'd say Clemson caught a few breaks during the streak, but really happy for Brownell.

Next three games are interesting. At UVa tonight, and next week they host Pitt and travel to FSU. Their schedule was front-loaded this year; after the next three, they have eight games where they'll be favored. If they win in Charlottesville tonight, they can win the league.

As much as it pains me to say this, i don't think anyone is beating your boys. I like the direction Cuse is headed now, but you guys still handled them and everyone else so far.

I think Carolina is better than Clemson, but they'll be tested in their last 10 games, with only BC an automatic win.

Certainly has more, higher level talent for sure. If Clemson can keep it close, you know BB will out coach old Roy.

Have you heard anything about sanctions? I know a few folks "in the know" are saying that they heard the NCAA is going to drop the hammer in February and it included hoops.
I'll believe it when i see it but it doesn't sound good.

Haha, you are one of the only guys that sticks up for his X and O ability. Most of the Carolina fan friends i know love his recruiting and think he's a horrid in game coach. Anyways wasn't trying to pick a fight that was more about my love for BB.
You didn't respond to the second half. Have you heard anything?

Brownell is awesome. You and I share adoration for him. I'll pull for him wherever he goes, with only 2-3 exceptions.

I don't expect to hear anything in February. Probably May or June, but I'm not following closely. The outcome is so unpredictable, I'm just waiting to the NCAA to decide and ignoring rumors from diehards and haters.

Yeah, i find Feb to be a bit odd too. Especially with the likelihood of UNC being in the mix for a #1 seed. I'm not hating at all, my mentions came from UNC guys, that have some sources "inside". But you are right only time will tell.

Speculating on sanctions is just meh. I'd imagine Carolina is gonna get hit hard, but there's no way to tell when it really happens. I'd bet AFTER basketball season/tourney bc the NCAA wants all that Carolina fan cash before hand.

Tough loss last night, but not unexpected. But, the Pittsburgh game is looking less intimidating now. They played a really weak non-conference schedule and have now been uncompetitive in two conference games (one against lowly NCSU).

Lowly NCSU Hung with Carolina for 2/3 of that game in chapel hill.

I'm assuming you have a point. Are you disputing that State is an awful team this year? Perhaps you've been more impressed by their single digit, in some cases, come-back wins, against Northeastern, High Point and UNCG. Last night's game AT Pitt revealed much more about Pitt (and their defense) than it did about the potential of NCSU moving forward.

You can't take a ton away from their bad pre conference games. They beat a ranked Pitt team, and hung with a top 2 team who is the conference favorite on the road. My point is, maybe they are not as bad as you are making them out to be.

State has good players. But Coach Gottfried doesn't have the right level of professionalism to coach a basketball team. That's their biggest problem at the moment.

Why not? You're as good as you play and so far they've played really bad basketball. They're 11-8 with 9 of their wins coming against the teams with an RPI of 100 or worse. That leaves them with a 2-7 record against the RPI top 100, and one loss outside the top 100. Their two best wins are against Pitt and Northeastern.

They're 1-5 in conference as well, so I'm not exactly cherry-picking their schedule.

Maybe they beat Duke this weekend and they get on a roll. Abu has been under-utilized most of the season, but appears to be more involved the last few games. But, I haven't seen the potential that you have.
