I don't think that would work. Chargers fans are just going to start supporting a division rival? I couldn't do it.

Good point.

Surprised anyone still cares about the Riders these days. I loved those uniforms. So much better than the **** you see these days. And man- was Mike Riley, like, 15 years old back then or what? That dude must kick ass in job interviews.

Lol, the casinos would love all the young rich fools coming through blowing their money while they're in town to play the raiders.

I would rather see MLB add/expand into SA and Carolina becoming 32 teams. A realignment would be necessary, and long overdue to get the TX teams out of the Pacific time zone divisions.

NL South: Miami, TB, Atlanta, Carolina
NL Central: STL, Cubs, Milwaukee, Minnesota
NL West: LA, SF, SD, Arizona or Colorado
NL East: Mets, Philly, Pitt, Wash

AL South: Rangers, Astros, SA, KC
AL East: Boston, NY, Toronto, Baltimore
AL Central: Chisox, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit
Al West: Anaheim, Oakland, Seattle, Arizona or Colorado

No Wild Cards, win your new 4-team division to get into the playoffs.

If Minnesota and Cincinnati wanted to keep historical rivals instead of going regional you could switch them around. The winner the previous years' Colorado/Arizona series gets to determine which team switches to Al West.

Couldnt love this more. NL baseball in Charlotte

I heard that the only way the Raiders leave is if San Diego goes to LA. In which case the Raiders move to San Diego.

If the Raiders were to move in that direction, they'd either refer to themselves as San Antonio or Austin unless they found themselves in San Marcos or New Braunfuls, then they'd probably just go by "Texas" or "Lone Star."

Also, if you thought it was expensive keeping teams in Canada--it is--London taxes at a 45% clip.

The U.K.’s tax rate is so high that some athletes have refused to compete within its borders.

You can keep reading up on the rest of the issues.

And the NFL is probably the worst sport among the major pro sports that could operate in London as far as player salaries go. The players make the least money except MLB players on a minor league contract and as you noted, the British pound outpaces the US dollar in a slight landslide.

I think a Super Bowl is a better idea than a long term team.

SA has 2.3 million and Austin has basically 2 million and the city limits are about 40 miles apart. In fact the combined metros of A-SA are larger than most NFL markets now. I understand why JJ would not want this to happen due to his own greed, but keeping an NFL team out of these huge markets would be just dumb. And by the way, Texas is huge. Austin and SA are not next door to Dallas. Florida is way smaller and has 3 teams. I didn't hear the Bucs and Dolphins cry when they placed a team in Jacksonville.

I think the combined areas could support a team but it would be a challenge. The little disposable income that is in San Antonio mostly goes to the Spurs. Austin is a large market untapped by pro sports but UT is like a pro sports team in multiple sports, especially football and it would have seniority over the Raiders.

The Texans and Cowboys aren't as much of an obstacle as one may think. That said, San Antonio definitely wouldn't need to build a Jerry World level stadium. As a matter of fact, it may be a good idea to go in with Texas State and build an NFL caliber venue on their campus.

I can tell you with high certainty that San Antonio will not get an MLB team any time soon. It's a miracle they can support the Spurs as good as they do and if the Spurs had had (no typo) the success of the Bucks these last 25 years and lacked big stars like Duncan and Robinson, they probably would have failed in San Antonio. Disposable income is not high in the Alamo City, at least with a sizable amount of people.

81 home games a year is tough and you'd prefer a certain amount of fans within a certain range of the ballpark for a daily routine AND to have a consistently winning team to draw fans during the dog days of summer. Notice the Astros attendance in the last decade before they got good again.

The NFL is the region's best option by a mile.

I'm starting to think that it's not gonna happen, as much as me and lots of others would like it to. I think they either stay in Oakland or end up sharing with the 49'rs.

For our UTSA brethren, I hope you don't get the Raiders. Here's why:
I have had season tickets to Titans games for 15 years. Like you I love to watch the Pros! But they suck all of the air out of every media outlet in Nashville. Consequently, who do you think gets ignored? (Other than UT) Every college program in the state of Tennessee is deprived of any real coverage or publicity. Schools like Vandy, MT, Memphis (and the FCS programs) are an afterthought and a filler. For the same reasons, I bet SDSU hopes the Chargers move to LA.

San Diego State football and basketball gets very good coverage from the San Diego Union Tribune, local TV and radio. They don't get the same type of coverage that the Chargers and Padres do...but no college team gets the same coverage as a professional team.

In the San Francisco Bay Area, both Stanford and Cal get good coverage. But it is competitive, with the 49ers and Raiders, Giants and A's, Warriors and San Jose Sharks. A school like San Jose State is going to get less coverage, but the way they perform they don't deserve the same coverage that Stanford or Cal would get.

Laying the groundwork? I'm sure it's just a coincidence it's the Raiders.

I can't see the NFL realistically putting a team in Mexico City. London may be hard enough to draw free agents too and you don't even have to learn a new language to move there.

Mexico City would never draw talent unless they removed the salary cap for the Mexican team so they could simply pay players enough money to overlook the negatives.

Raiders host Houston Texans at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Nov. 21 in the first-ever Monday Night Football game played outside the U.S.
