Bass transfers to GVSU for football
Wasn't on the WMU roster but still an interesting move.
"I am healthy again. I am up to 275 right now and I want my playing weight to be 290, so I am almost there," Bass said. "I am as healthy as I have ever been, stronger than I have ever been, faster than I have ever been and feel better than I ever have."

The best to Josh moving forward.
Wondering why he wasn't allowed to play at WMU?

Maybe an insurance type thing. With what happened to him before. It was just not worth the risk to the school. I think we got a transfer coming in this year because of this same kind of thing. Maybe changing places releases some sort of liability?

Same thing happened with Kyle Knapp at Syracuse. Knapp just joined the WMU football team this semester.

Ok. Not sure what "thing" means other than one leaves and the other arrives.
So why isn't Josh Bass allowed to play at WMU? Cant be for liability. Why would GVSU assume that?

By thing I mean a doctor will give his recommendation to give up the sport and won't clear them. Then said player/family gets second opinion and new school is willing to give them a shot. The player doesn't lose their scholarship, just can't play.
From the perspective of the coaching staff, would you rather get another body in there on scholarship right now to practice and get better? Or keep an injured kid on the sideline for 3 or 4 years hoping he can get better and contribute to the team on the field by the time he graduates? As sick as that might sound, its a business. I'm just glad the kids don't lose the scholarship too.

I get the business part. But I am also reading from Josh that he has never been better. Meaning better than before his medical issue.
The answer likely lies somewhere in between both sides but I would argue the current program has the leverage to do as they want. They are the "employer". But Josh has this new opportunity and it is good to see that he is able to pursue it.
Again, best to Josh and his future endeavor.

Saw another Syracuse player stopped by team doctors from playing due to concussions, now heading to another school. Some medical experts are calling this a dangerous loophole. I am sure Jim McMahon felt 100% in the off season too.

Bass is quite a catch for Grand Valley. But is Bass a keeper, or if they find he's still injured will they have to release him. Something fishy about this.
Speaking of Bass one of our members on :shhhh:_______ has a fishing message board. Lets talk Bass.

He probably couldn't breathe in the boat. I mean, could we ever relive the glory days of Gill? No, better to swim to open waters.

Bass has been swimming upstream since the injury. Bass had been in the weeds for awhile, but the lure of moving to a new pond and spawning a new start was easy to swallow.
