David Drew's Twitter deleted.
Appears the rumors of his release at MLive are in fact true.

Will be interesting to see where the "coverage" goes from here. Hate to see this.

MLive gave a bunch of people the boot out the door yesterday, so looks like we've reached the age of WMU Athletics press releases only for our local "coverage". BC Enquirer: Time to step up and take over the market!

I would be amazed if the Gazette is still printing and delivering newspapers by the end of the year.

The journalism industry is going through a rough and rocky transition. And it is not shaping-up to be much good.

Count me in as a grumpy old guy who liked it better "Back'n da day!"

It's too bad Andy Pepper only gets 4 minutes to report the sports. There will be a huge void in coverage, not just WMU.

The Mlive model has failed, and a once excellent newspaper has been destroyed. There is a business opportunity here. Hopefully a REAL news organization will take the monetary risk.

What scares me is we are raising a generation that gets their news off social media, and much of it is just mindless pap about celebrities, and a tainted view of the world in general.

RE: David Drew's Twitter deleted.
A new locally-owned newspaper could still turn an advertising profit, I'd think. Or at least exist as a break even non-profit that can still pay for employees. But there's a huge start-up investment involved with something like that. BC Enquirer would be wise to rebrand itself the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Enquirer and just staff a few reporters in a satellite office.

sounds like KB needs to get a staff of marketing interns to prepare and populate Bronco propaganda. I wish David nothing but the best. He did a great job with what he was given.

Don't think Fox News carries much weight for Millenials and younger. MSNBC and CNN are likely candidates to inherit these folks after their Daily Show and Bill Maher stains where off.

Educated individuals ( the younger generation included ) understand that the news we read is driven by the political pockets that feed said media outlets...

I prefer watch NBC/FOX/CNN and BBC... take a good cross-section and can usually get a good feel for what is close to what is really happening out there in the world... its sad that the media is so biased by its bottom line...

Sad to hear this and if true that DD is gone, we have no coverage to speak of. That is really weak.

There's a new guy on the beat. His byline is WMU_Athletics. Must be a pen name, but he's been cranking out the Bronco coverage!

Four minutes? He would be the happiest guy in the world. Right now he gets about 2 minutes including cross talk. The most frustrating job ever..to prepare and watch your material go wayside because reporters, producers can not time out a show, the weather guy goes long. The excuse was always, no one cares about sports

Apparently, MDead's excuse is no one cares about WMU sports.
