Plus, we are used to bad DB play at GS so nowhere to go but up.

USA has tapped Rush Propst's staff at Colquitt County recently as well. The current USA DC , Travis Pearson, was a former DC at Colquitt County that was brought in as a position coach three years ago and then elevated to DC in 2014. He's a done a solid job so far. The man that succeeded him as DC at Colquitt County, Tracy Buckhannon, was brought in to coach LBs at USA this past season.

GS has produced some pretty good DB's through the years... just off the top of my head Kiwaukee Thomas, Earthwind Moreland, David Young, Laron Scott, JJ Wilcox, and Darius Eubanks have played in the NFL in the past 15 years and Arkee Thompson played in the Arena League.

Any problems GS had defending the pass probably came from not being able to simulate passing offenses in practice, not from having poor players or poor coaching.

I think it's funny that some of our fans are bitching about a guy getting hired out of HS for a position coach, yet people were yelling for a guy 2 years out of HS to be the head coach.

I certainly hope I'm wrong but this hire is reminding me a lot of Chris Hatcher

The Packers are 30-0 the last two years. Back-to-back state championships in the highest (by enrollment) classification. They've been solid for a long, long time.

Good get by GASO. Will help with recruiting.

Twitter is alive with the idea that Rush Probst himself wants the OC position.

Yea ...... no thanks.

There's plenty of qualified candidates that Southern doesn't need to consider him.

I've been hearing that Rush Propst is happy in Moultrie.

He was almost hired as a position coach by Nick Saban at 'Bama before the scandal erupted. I hope he's gotten his life back together (and on the outside, it appears that he has done that) but I would honestly advise GASO to look in another direction for assistants.

Just too much baggage and his offense at Colquitt is not really like what we have been doing.

He'd be a lot of fun for the different heckling groups in College Football.

He tried applying for the job at Troy... He didn't even get a look.

GS just hired former Troy AD Steve Dennis as Director of football administration

Dennis was a horrible AD and was let go at Troy. One reason why we are in the mess we have been in

Time will tell but Summers has hired quite the variety of coaches. His success is to a large degree dependent on these assistants being good. Needless to say many Eagle supporters will anxiously wait for this year s Spring practice

From what've I've heard, Steve Dennis did not do a good job at Troy, and Jeremy Rowell certainly endured some rough times in his later years at Troy. That does not mean they will not be good fits at Georgia Southern.

I think a lot of people are falling victim to the mindset of those who would write a bad review of a restaurant where they got treated poorly, warning others not to go there, when the restaurant may actually have an at least decent, though not perfect, reputation otherwise.

Rowell is a good coach and will serve GS well, in my opinion. Dennis is not even in the same role he was at Troy, so it's hard to automatically assume he'll bring a dumpster fire to GS. Let's wait and see how it plays out.

Also, Rowell is not in the same position? Wasn't he DC at Troy?
