I know bashing Hattiesburg is the cool thing to do, but the city has changed in recent years and isn't as dead as people make it out to be. But, yes I understand why people (especially those from large metro areas such as Memphis) aren't huge on it.

Nothing wrong with the 'Burg in my opinion. I've enjoyed my time there the few times i've had to go in town for various projects. Plus, not far from good ole Nawlins, has good weather, easy place to relax.

Hattiesburg on a USM game day is kinda cool...cities population jumps like 15k...and suddenly there are on campus activities and tailgating to occupy your time...if you're going to visit the Burg...go on USM game day, and eat at Miss Leatha's.

As far as bashing wku's schedule, theirs was ranked 103, Houston was 91. That's pot calling kettle territory there. Both are good teams this year and it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if both went 12-1 with Houston's loss to UConn and Wku's loss to LSU, Houston with one P5 win and Wku with 2.

Last I checked, both Vanderbilt and Louisville were P5.

CUSA has no street credit in the national media. The Conference is viewed as weak because it is weak. WKU had a once in 20 year team and still onlt anagedo to play a 5th place AAC team. This spells trouble going forward for the league.

Southern Miss just never belonged with us, they could never keep up with us. Where they are now is perfect for them, a low end conference with low end programs.

AAC has schools in the same situation. What do you call Temple's team this year? A once in a programs history team? And Memphis? Once in a 15 year team?

"In the 2016 fiscal year, approximately $21.5 million will be allocated to spend for athletic expenses with an estimated revenue of $11 million. According to Tulane’s financial statements, Tulane forecasts spending approximately $21 million for athletics while taking in approximately $9 million for the 2015 fiscal year. These figures account for the operating expenses of Yulman Stadium and participation of 16 programs in the American Athletic Conference, but do not include the construction costs of the stadium."

Tulane is losing $12 million dollars a year, on a $21 million dollar athletic budget. And it was even worse 2, 3, or 5 years ago.

Even USM, in all our horrible financial situation, has a larger budget, and remains in the black for Athletics.

Haha- apparently my post was pretty spot on if this is the only argument (errantly may I add... ), I'd say you understand how this G5 ranking works. Take care.

Last I checked, both Vanderbilt and Louisville were P5.

Not only that but none of Houston's wins over ranked teams came over P5 teams. The 2 or 3 (depending on your definition) wins were over AAC teams.

As much as people over here brag about being so much better than the rest of the G5, you'd think these wins would never even happen. And currently, already losses to 2 other G5 conferences in the postseason. And honestly, neither were close.
