Tiger football attendance & AAC
American: The league’s average crowd (31,782) won’t get mistaken for a Power Five conference. But the American enjoyed a banner year with huge increases by Temple (89 percent), Memphis (29 percent) and Houston (20 percent) as they all cracked the top 25 rankings. Temple and Memphis averaged larger crowds than 13 teams in Power Five conferences.

RE: Tiger football attendance & AAC
Two rainy games really cut into the Tigers #.

No better feeling than being in the Liberty Bowl for the Ole Miss game and seeing more blue than red in a packed stadium on a sunny Saturday. The program made some major gains over the past 3-seasons; here's hoping we see Memphis continue to support the program. I think Norvell was a good hire to build on what Fuente started. Go Tigers!

Yep, attendance was something else this year! Especially considering we had another Halloween night game, and the SMU game was just weird (bunch of rain, lost 3 in a row, already knew Fuente was gone, Thanksgiving weekend, etc.) - this was a special season, and I believe we have many more big years ahead of us.

Attachment wasn't numbered, but I quickly counted and looks like we were 55th in attendance. Not bad.

And Temple was just in front of us. Would have been nice to have been first in the AAC. Temple won't have Notre Dame at home next year.

Temple 44,159 +89%
Memphis 43,802 +29%

Other AAC schools and my unsolicited thoughts:

UCF still averaged 30K despite being 0 & 12. Impressive.

Tulane only 23K in 2nd year in a brand new stadium. Terrible.

Tulsa 19K and SMU 21K. Also pretty bad. Seems private schools attendance falls faster when their teams struggle.

Two more:

Southern Miss up 25% to 28K. Pretty good considering their years of struggle.

Future Tiger opponent Georgia State 3rd to last in FBS at 10K. My comment: Georgia State is FBS? Who knew?

I agree - I'm guessing/wondering the administration has a goal to finish 1st in AAC attendance each year. . .

I was also impressed with East Carolina, especially with them firing their coach and a disappointing season

Baby steps. Great crowds for three big games and a disappointing crowd for SMU.

The Liberty Bowl looked great this year. Keep it rocking!

Yeah, I thought about that, didn't want to be negative.

We also hopefully won't have a night game on Halloween, and an 11:00 a.m. Saturday game in the rain on Thanksgiving weekend. I think it evens out.

Temple had Penn State and Notre Dame.

Memphis also had the following games average over 40K - Missouri State, Cincinnati, Navy.

Hey Georgia State. No harm intended, don't be sensitive.

Suffice it to say, most Tiger fans weren't thrilled at the idea of a home-and-home with your school. Take it how you wish.

Georgia State is responsible for perhaps the most surprising score of all of 2015.

Georgia State 34.7 Georgia Southern

A loss so bad it made GSU's coach flee to Tulane.

Unfathomable result, and after starting 2-6, it got them bowl eligible at 6-6.

You know who I seriously doubt could have spanked GSU in Statesboro like that in late 2015? Memphis.

We're making up for basically an entire history of ineptitude and apathy. 31K+ for every home game other than our last, which we struggle with because it's over Thanksgiving break is a start.

I didn't say you guys had a bad attendance record, but having those two games at home certainly made the difference.

Props on the whole, though.
