UCF still averaged 30K despite being 0 & 12. Impressive.

Tulane only 23K in 2nd year in a brand new stadium. Terrible.

Tulsa 19K and SMU 21K. Also pretty bad. Seems private schools attendance falls faster when their teams struggle.

Two more:

Southern Miss up 25% to 28K. Pretty good considering their years of struggle.

Future Tiger opponent Georgia State 3rd to last in FBS at 10K. My comment: Georgia State is FBS? Who knew?
Why even mention us? Bored under your bridge?

Hey Georgia State. No harm intended, don't be sensitive.

Suffice it to say, most Tiger fans weren't thrilled at the idea of a home-and-home with your school. Take it how you wish.
Well the other side of that H&H means a trip to Memphis so yeah not exactly the trip we wanted either. Take it how you wish. :D

Nothing wrong with a trip to Atlanta; it's just most didn't know Georgia State even had a football team.

Hey Panama, if you take offense so easily, a future opponent's message board is probably not a great place to visit. I'm sure Georgia has high school football teams that average more then 10K in attendance.

You can take that as a slam, as it was intended to be one.

Yeah kind of what your butts in seats looked like 3 or 4 years ago? LOL. C'mon son. You lose nobody comes to games. We were 1-23 prior to 2015 under this coach. Nobody in a major city shows up for that. We will be more than fine. We just went to a bowl and are finalizing buying a MLB ball park this speing and will enroll 56k students next fall. This team returns 17 starters and we just went from startup to a bowl faster than any school in FBS history.

All kidding aside I like Memphis and have followed your team for a very long time and am looking forward to this series.

Wow, now I'm interested.

How close is that to your campus? Is GSU going to re-design to reduce seating, or just tarp the upper deck?

About a mile. Close enough that we use their parking for students. Two plans submitted. One is a renovation of Ted into a football stadium. Other is a tear down and building a new stadium on north part of property. It will have dorms, apartments, retail and condos around it in existing parking lots. Also olympic sports will move there.

Seems a shame to tear it down. It's not that old, right?

20 years. Most of us hope we keep it. I would rather invest $100M plus into teh ted than invest $100M plus in a new stadium and get an erector set.

Sorry for the thread jack guys.

Majot urban research university in downtown Atlanta that will enroll 56k next fall. I'll let you imagine where our President sees us.

I never would have guessed 56 K students. Sounds a little like UCF.

Re the conference, now? Or eventually? Is CUSA seen as an decent upgrade to the Sun Belt? Not being a smartass, I really don't know.

What was hoops attendance while the Hunter kid was there?

Honestly, most urban universities could enroll as many students has they choose. Many schools, like Memphis, limit the number. I remember back in the 70's or 80's the Memphis enrollment was around 25K or 26K, but they made a conscious effort to lower that number. They raised the entrance exams scores required in order to keep a quality student body. Of course the size of the metro area would make a difference also. A school like Houston can allow much more qualified students because of their high population, much like Atlanta.

Memphis was at 22,000 when I started in 1977.

The lack of growth is a serious issue. No growth in 40 years? You literally have to work at that, and we have. Sad.

They just merged with the five campus sites Perimeter University that added 14,000 students. GSA had about 40,000 prior to that.

Certainly one of the urban commuter college success stories. Some really good graduate programs. they used to be awful at graduating students as recently as 10 years ago but have reinvented how they support students. I had the opportunity to hear their enrollment management VP last fall. He had a blank check to make wholesale changes and its worked.

Downtown has been transformed. It really was a commuter school in the early 90s. Now there are 10k students living downtown on and off campus. The Turner Field development will add thousands more.
