Man in army fatigues with gun spotted walking into the architecture building per CNN a few moments ago.

Update at 10:51 a.m.: It certainly appears the “incident” on the University of Texas at Arlington campus has wrapped up.

According to the latest Mav Alert, “If you are not in the Architecture Building, resume normal operations. Finals schedules should continue as planned.”

Dallas Morning News architecture critic Mark Lamster, a UTA architecture professor, reports via Twitter that “students and arch faculty have been moved out of the building, now being swept.”

There are reports the “gun” may have been something far more benign. Again, per Lamster: “Guy in full camo with camo backpack and long shiny object. could have been a tripod.”

Update at 10:48 a.m.: Per the latest Mav Alert, “UTA police are with the man spotted in the Architecture Building. Please remain in place until further notice.”

This item is constantly being updated: The University of Texas at Arlington issued a Mav Alert at 10:19 this morning for “a suspicious white male with a gun in army fatigues” seen in the Arlington School of Architecture.

The alert is asking people to “shelter in place” and stay away from the building until further notice.

There has been no further information. UT-Arlington police tweeted the Mav Alert at 10:37 a.m.

School is in session today, as students take final exams.

I would expect a Texan to know the difference between a tripod and a gun.

All the public universities in Texas are extremely liberal Especially by comparison to the rest of the state.

All the public universities in Texas are extremely liberal Especially by comparison to the rest of the state.

I saw that guy on the news..pretty obvious that he was carrying a tripod..just a case of social media run amok..

Still, I'd rather everyone be safe than sorry in that situation.
