A firm 'maybe'.
Chances increase with more wins.

No clue - but know being in the same division as App St and GS won't make it any easier.

USA was bowl eligible in our first eligible season. So was GS and App. I believe TXST might have been as well. It wouldn't surprise me if you joined those teams, but when is your first eligible season, 2017 or 2018?

It's 2018. 2017 they will be FBS transitional.

Yes, we were eligible our first eligible year, 2013 and then 2014 but then we lost all our "FCS recruits" and crapped out. By 2018 we will, hopefully, have a new HC and staff. I doubt we sniff it again before 2019 so CCU will have a slot.

The east is shaping up to be tougher than the west as it currently stands so I'd say that hurts your chances quite a bit. If Troy and GSU keep trending up then I'd give you about a 33% chance to get eligible.

RE: Coastal Carolina bowl eligibility
It's hard to say. As others have pointed out 4 of the last 5 teams to move up were all bowl eligible in their first year, but the East will also feature what is shaping up to be the best group of teams. This year the future East teams finished 2 thru 6 in the standings, and the last two years there have been 3 bowl eligible teams (based on wins) in that group. With Georgia State and Troy both looking up it's going to be hard to get into the top half of the league.

Competition in the east is going to be intense.

I'm loving the locality of all the schools (in the east division) and how it allows visiting fans/alum attend game on a short road trip. This is great news for the conference (especially the east).

CCU is going to have a difficult time in the SBC compared to when GS and App St joined. A large part is because App State and GS are already in the top half of the conference and programs like Troy and USA have had success in the past. I'm not saying they won't find success, but it will be difficult.

What's their OOC schedule looking like?

In all due respect when has South Alabama ever had "success"? A program started in 2009, has had 1 winning season as an FBS member. And have always finished dead last or middle of the pack.

2013, they finished 6-6. Technically that is a winning season in most people's eyes.

For a new program only a few years ago and in its 2nd and 3rd season of SBC play they were above .500 in conference play and .500 in regular season play. That is fairly impressive for a new program. Success like what GASOU and App St have shown is built on programs which have dominated their competition the last 20 years (besides some management hiccups).

If CCU can resemble what those programs have showcased in their short history of SBC play, then congrats to them in a few years

Depends on what you consider success.

This was just South's 4th year as an FBS member. It took Arkansas State 19 years to have a winning FBS Season.

This is not a cut at Coastal, but I think they'll find it to be tough in the SBC. Coastal has made a habit of scheduling shift FCS teams. That's going to hurt them for awhile. Look at this past season. They lost to every decent team they played. The Citadel, Charleston Southern and Liberty. Stepping up to the level of compitition will take awhile.

We may have issues, but I doubt it is because of scheduling.

True, this year was a "down" 9-3 year but last year the Liberty faithful said the same thing and we were fine. This year we beat WIU and they are rated highly. The only embarrassing loss was to a 6-5 Liberty team on the road. This year had nothing to do with scheduling but rather our offense and defense were inconsistent. We didn't seem to match the enthusiasm as many of the other teams - being highly ranked gets people fired up to play you and we just never seemed to muster the same energy.

Yes, we absolutely suck and are unworthy of Coastal's presence. Please keep thinking that. 05-mafia
