UT track and field 2015-16
Season is underway with a meet in Findlay this weekend. Team scores weren't kept. Findlay, Heidelberg, Ohio Northern and Hillsdale also competed.

Next competition isn't until January.

RE: 2015-16 track and field
What is a D1 school doing competing in a meet against NAIA, DII and DIII schools?

Not unusual- no team scores, early in the year shake-out. Surprised that Timmons ran, though. She should be a contender for MAC title. Often they hold out top runners for big meets. Maybe she needed the work.

Still seems like we are undershooting. If you want to be competitive at D1, seems like you should be running against like comptition.

BG meet is next- usually a mix of D1 and smaller schools, IIRC. Don't undersell the Findlays of the world. I've seen some awfully good track athletes out of small schools. It's not like football.

Does O$U or ND ever run against Hillsdale? Seems like one of the complaints is that the new track guy took a nationally ranked long distance squad and floundered it to a last place finish in the spring or fall season, right?

Reported on twitter that UT assistant Samantha Bluske finished 10th in the California International Marathon, in 2:40.53 which qualifies her for the Olympic trials.

I can only tell you that OSU, like most schools, used to send athletes to a variety of meets, including many where NCAA Division II teams ran. Can't find their schedule for this year but I suspect that hasn't changed. Would they compete against ONLY small schools? Probably not. They have an indoor track and can run full distance indoor events whenever they choose. Had UT fulfilled the promise they made to me when I donated for Fetterman we would, too. But instead we take opportunities to run at area schools that DO have indoor tracks.

Very quick check shows that ND will run in meets including Bethel and Samford as well as other small schools.

If it's about the indoor track then I guess it's the "every port in a storm" theory. Go where the track is covered.

05-bump

UT competes at the Bowling Green Opener on Saturday, January 9th. No preview of that on the UT site as of now, but there might be one in the next few days.

Saw a returnee with a huge ice baf strapped to her hammie. Not good. Performances were subpar but it looks like not many of the top D runners competed.

She won thev3 and was second in the 5 in CUSA last year and is eligible to compete here this year. I'm thinking we just tacked on about twenty points in the MAC meet.

UT placed 4th (out of 20 schools, though apparently only 10 schools scored points) in the meet at Grand Valley State.
