We're nothing like Memphis...(not saying it in a disparaging way, it's just our teams play VERY different football)

Our defensive scheme is very different than memphis', but Temples strength all year has been their defense, not their offense.

Our offense is similar to Memphis' by design. You don't believe me ? Ask coach herman. He said it during the UH/Memphis press conference.

Temples D matched up well with it, so all I'm saying is we have a really good opponent coming to town, and they will be ready.

Temple made me a fan this year, their fight song is catchy.

But it's no womp womp, coogs will win.. but I'm only like 57% sure

you are mixing up press conferences, i watched all of them. he said that about smu not memphis
he said we essential have the same offense ideologically as SMU
(and smu scored 40 on temple)

even in the memphis press conference he said we wouldnt be able to replicate memphis offense that we dont have the pieces.

and he didnt say this but usf offense is built around the auburn philosophy and our offense is built around the Oregon/Auburn philosophy
(they scored 40 plus on temple)

7:50 mark, I'll take my apology, we run an offense with similar schemes and principals to Memphis, not smu

Yeah, Ward is a totally pass first QB. And Memphis gets tons of turnovers. And we have huge WRs. And....

https://youtu.be/TWgiqV7twmk

saying we are similar by being run first and run play action, isnt the same as running the same offense..uconn, temple, Tulane are also built of that exact philosophy, that doesnt mean we have the same offense, look at the pregame game presser for memphis, he said we couldnt replicate memphis offense

we are built of the same ultra basic fundamentals but we arent very similar at all..they run numerous play actions in 1 play (we dont), their qb in under center for a lot of plays, they pass to their tight end heavily...they throw it 40 times a game we throw it 25 times a game..

look at arizona state or tulsa offense (the last 6 years before this year) that is what memphis runs this year, it is built of pocket passing qbs....look at ohio state, oregon and auburn when looking at our offense, it is built of dual threat qbs
they are not the same type of offense

while on the other hand he said in the smu pregame presser that him and morris have met often to share offensive ideas before this year (when at clemson and ohio state) and that we both share alot of the same offensive ideology and style

I'm glad we're playing Temple, their team has always been fun to watch. The defense and that red ginger Matakevich are solid as heck. Should be a fun game, PJ has gotten a lot better since our last meeting so we should be in for a great game.

Have fun watching from home! Sucks to be the second best team in the east but it is what it is

At least we actually beat everyone in our division, but it will be awesome watching Houston run a train on you.

I have never seen so much butthurt in my life.

No butthurt at all. I mean this 4 loss team ran a train on you and made your team look like a JV peewee squad but congrats on your paper title. The real champs who beat everyone in their division know whats up.... and next year, if your good, we may use lube when we do it to you again.

That beat down was epic... and hilarious.

Sit down.

I still don't have any animosity toward any AAC teams, because we are basically all helping each other at this point. Memphis fans were chill about that game, on Thanksgiving break (I'm from the Storrs area originally) all the UCONN fans were cool, and it looks like Houston will be a competitive but welcoming atmosphere.

However, I have to ask UCF fans: Are USF fans on here trolling us or are a lot of them like this? I mean, I don't know a sports league that decides champions purely on division play. Its unbelievable to see a fan base obsess over a midseason matchup like this.

I went over to the USF boards and none of them are acting like this.

I'd like to say it's just Crazy USF fans. But... if roles were reversed UCF fans would probably sound a lot like USF fans currently sound. Football in Florida produces some interesting fan bases. It doesn't matter if it was FSU, Florida, Miami, USF or UCF...

USF beat you on the field... yes... It's butt hurt...

Is Temple better than USF, well the record would suggest that. Did USF have a harder conference schedule than Temple... It's a valid argument.

Do I personally think Temple is better than USF. Yes, USF sucks hope they get stuck in the St.Pete bowl and lose to a CUSA team.

if the shoes where flipped temple fans would be the exact same way..

if usf had won the division simply because they had a easier schedule (they had tulane and you had atop 25 navy) and you blew them usf and won every east division game

temple fans would be 100% the exact same way, i can almost guarantee it...i already member the non-stop obsession of temple fans trying to blame aresco for last year and not making a bowl

we ALL knew the amount of bowls we had last year coming into the season and what we traded before any game was played. instead of saying temple should have won more games to be higher on the todum poll you guys were trashing aresco

Completely different scenarios. One is for playing for the American championship, the other not having a bowl game after being eligible. If USF, or any American team, were 6-6, I'd be mad if they were excluded. On the other hand, the team with the best conference record wins their division and the right to go the CCG. Your analogy is deeply flawed.

but it seems temple fans are missing the fundemental issue that temple had a way easier road to the CCG than usf (to et the best conference record)

an exaggerated exmple...if 2 team in the big 10 west were playing for the west titles 1 team beats every team in the west, but drew ohio state, Michigan and Michigan st from the east ,and another team drew maryland, rutgers and psu and lost badly to the first team but won the division off general conference record..you have to acknowledge the disparity in the conference schedule

my argument is only deeply flawed because you are biased toward temple, 1 didnt benefit temple so its the proper thing to complain about it, 1 benefits temple so its not okay to complain about it

both at its core are ideologically the same...the situation and rules were established before a single game was played

it was acknowledged we would only have 6 bowls before the season started and 100% of our coaches/presidents were OK with that....but temple end up the 7th team so it wass okay for temple fans to NONSTOP trash the league, make 8 or 9 threads basically saying aresco robbed them, and how the league is bad, tons of posts about our conference being bush league, our league is this and that..

everyone not a temple fans was 100% okay with the decision to trade the bowl even after knowing temple was left out, becuase we all knew from the beginning of the season it meant we'd get a touted byu in a bowl game instead of a middling 6-6 c-usa for one of our better teams

IM 100% certain if the shoes were flipped with USF, temple fans would just as easily complain and probably louder as there are more temple fans than usf on this board

Sorry, but Temple fans aren't that petty. We realize that you have to play the games that we're scheduled. The schedule constantly changes and nobody really knows from year to year who's going to be good/bad.
As pointed out, last season Temple was bowl eligible and didn't get one. Why? Because the AAC SOLD that game to another league, so if anything Temple should be pissed over that little cluster****.

exactly why temple is petty

it wasnt sold..it was traded to get rid of 6-6 c-usa team for a Highly touted BYU team in an inagural year of an AAC owned bowl...i still 100% support that decision as does everyone in the league not a temple fan. (and note we had 6 bowls that year, the year before we only had 5 bowl teams)

IT WAS ALL DONE BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED, ALL THE COACHES KNEW AND ALL THE PRESIDENTS AGREED TO IT...stop making it seem like we sold it last minute when temple was assigned to it

Rephrasing you
"We realize that you have to play for the bowls that we're scheduled before the year. The bowls constantly changes and nobody really knows the amount we will have from year to year and you have to play for the amount you have that year"

temple knew we only had 6 bowls, temple fans should be mad they werent a top 6 team in the league, and not whinning that once upon a time, a year before bowls were allotted we had 2 horrible bowls and we traded it in for 1 good one

its the EXACT same at its core....you are petty, or you would have just accepted the condition that were set at the start of the season instead of constantly attacking the league and making NUMEROUS POSTS at the time all degrading the league (even in the response now).
like i said like 5 times now, you guys are biased and from dealing with you with the bowl situation im 100% CERTAIN..if the shoes were turned all the temple fans would be posting that they are the best east team and the real champs and usf just got it on technicality

The actual quote from Jack Swigert on Apollo 13 mission was, "Houston, we've had a problem here." Ron Howard's movie wasn't the first to mangle the original quote. A 1974 TV movie titled, "Houston, We've Got A Problem" was probably the origin of the misquote.

And know you know...
