Dino Babers wouldnt be a bad choice but he doesnt have deep connections in the south. I think UCF will go with Collins, so Babers will be available for a few minutes... then Temple will open.

Some will think I am nuts but Willie Fritz has won everywhere he has coached and he has never had much to worth with. If his team was in the AAC this year, I bet they are bowl elegible and hes in the freaking Sunbelt. The guy is the master of doing something with leftovers and honestly thats all that Tulane is gonna get until they can show something.

Hes also cheap. You could pick him up for less than what your paying Johnson.

Most importantly, he recruits Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia and Florida. He grabs diamonds in the rough and coaches them up. Hed be a great choice.
Is Willie Fritz tied at the hip with the flexbone/veer?

RE: Tulane Coach
Fritz plays to the strength of his team - in short no, he is not tied to the flexbone

Houston Nutt would be an awful hire. Not because I find him to be particularly incompetent. But the dude has been out of coaching for more than four years after a season where he didn't win a single conference game. There's a reason no one has hired him since.

My #1 choice is Dino Babers from Bowling Green. UCF is also going after him as are others. Our 2 AD finalists have worked with him in the past. Would be a tough and good catch. Hope we can pull it off.

UCF jumped on Frost.. Now Tulane should grab Babers. His ties to Texas from working with Briles will serve you well.

Should have a new AD today or tomorrow, at which point I think we'll know a lot more about the coaching search. It sounds to me like they're moving fast on the coach even though they haven't announced an AD yet.

Hopefully you guys go with Babers. It may be tough to seel a coach on Tulane until the new AD is hired and in place.... A good coach is going to want to see two things from Tulane. $ and commitment.

Hiring a new coach should be much easier with Yulman stadium in place.

Word on the street is that Briles' personal aircraft is currently in NOLA. Some Tulane person pulled the flight records for an executive jet that flew in from Waco on 11/27. I saw this on one of our forums.

I don't buy this as truth, but Kendall Briles would be a forward-thinking hire. Give the kid 5-8 years, since it's going to be a long rebuild with him.

RE: Tulane Coach
Tulane had a decent staff...their kids just had no conditioning. They'd wilt in the 4th quarter of lot of games. I don't think it would take a good coach 8 years to rebuild. Justin Fuentes did it at Memphis in 3 years...we only had like 58 players on our roster after the Larry Porter experiment.

That would be a good hire for Tulane. 04-rock

He's been around enough from Houston to Baylor to know how to build a program from the ground up. It also fits Kendalls geography.

That was incorrect...

Apparently, multiple people - including the New Orleans Advocate - are coming out and saying that Patulski was personally interviewed by Fitts on Sunday. That justifies the flight (Waco to NOLA on a personal craft is a really specific flight.)

Patulski is an AD candidate that is a top assistant AD at Baylor right now. He could bring Kendall along if hired, but that's a long shot.

A second flight left just today back to Waco, TX.

We're probably going to be picking up Patulski (Baylor #2) as our new AD. This puts Kendall Briles on the list of HC options.

Have you guys thought about tapping some local high schools? I'm sure there are some good high school coaches you may be able to coax to Tulane....maybe

I would say hire a young exciting middle school coach but they might use Tulane as a stepping stone

If they leave Tulane in a good position who cares if they use it as a stepping stone? Chad Morris wants to be at Texas A&M. The only way he gets it is to turn SMU around.

RE: Tulane Coach
There is a flag football coach in my town that is like 35-3 with his 9 year olds. You want me to have him call the Tulane AD?

Does Tulane have an AD? Or does the president kind of do a 'double duty'?
