RE: The U in Boone 2016
There was one upside to being in the FCS. On any given Saturday, I could hop in my car and take a little road trip and drive to Elon, Furman, UTC, Citadel, etc., with only Samford as the one place I won't drive to.
This year, I drove to ODU, GSU, and Clemson. But I didn't make the drive to ULM and Idaho, nor will I make the drive to USA.
That is the only upside to FCS. I'm certainly glad App made the jump.

Yes, yes they have. I have not seen Sun Belch, Sun Burnt posted in a long time. Looking at that bracket I am glad we moved. I know there are quality football programs in the FCS but gun to their head nobody is saying they are excited to play Duquesne University of the Holy Spirit Dukes in the playoffs.

radio silence is a great way to put it, I hate it that we still have a small group who want nothing more to do with the program since Moore was fired and we moved up to the FBS, of course, if they miss the FCS so much, Western Carolina is just a couple hours from Boone, they can always convert to Catamounts and spend their weekends in Cullawee, wouldn't bother me one bit.

I was an FCS 'zealot' and have so far enjoyed the move to FBS.
At the end of the day, football's football and as long as you can beat the guy on the other side of the ball then it's a good day.

I think its helped that GaSo was able to follow us to FBS. I can imagine we'd feel more like outsiders had we done it alone or with some random team we had no history with.

That's nothing, you should have seen the love-fest going on during those long months of waiting for an invite. It was like the brothers that can't stand each other and always fighting, until someone from outside the family attacks one, then, we had each other's backs. I still marvel at those days.

Opening the season at Tennessee and two weeks later hosting Miami sure looks good on next year's schedule...

That was basically our schedule last year. Just don't do what we did and lose about 4 players to injury in those games. Turned losses that would have been okay in the grand scheme of things into painful losses.

No no no, I said it first, so obviously, you guys followed us. However, I'm glad you caught my reference as it seemed to be misconstrued by most as a nice comment to GaSo.

The difference is that once conference play started you have seen how it prepared your guys. It's almost like playing on all-madden difficulty level and then playing someone on the regular setting for fun. It gets much easier and things are a bit slower. Win or loss, it sets you up well for conference play. It's sad at this point that the G5 only has one lottery ticket to win, and the rest are concessions that no one cares for.

We've seen that this year. Even the difference between Toledo and the Bottom 8 Sun Belt Teams is quite significant. It's really felt like we are taking a step down in competition most weeks. Kind of frustrating honestly.

Hell, Toledo is a step up from all the Sun Belt this year. How they lost a MAC game is beyond me.

It was Tuesday night against NIU. It was at home though.
