El Som is the classic "college" tradition in Statesboro. You'll also find several good places downtown but with a straight face I also highly recommend the Dining Commons by the bookstore. It's wonderful.

Why has nobody said Gnat's Landing yet? It's a must go. Literally a Statesboro staple.

RE: Statesboro question
Beaver house is one of my personal favorites if you want a sit down family style southern meal.

If you're there for breakfast definitely go to RJ's. They serve breakfast from Snooky's (which was essentially where Georgia Southern football began).

If you're looking for great southern food you should check out Fordham's Diner as well.

RE: Statesboro question
Som tips for a few places already mentioned.

Vandys.

Grilled chicken melt with mayo on the side for your fries. Oh dear sweet Erk its so good.

El Sombrero.

You've got, "The Palace", "Old El Som (Some call this "Tracks)", and then "Grandma's El Som (Doesn't serve alcohol)"

Gnat's Landing

Best bar in town, great music, great drinks, great bar food, right at the corner of Town and College

Dingus

Don't wear anything outside of fratwear or GS apparel

Daylight Donuts

Get there early and stand in line with faithfuls about football, you'll have a great conversation and then order the sausage blankets. Again oh sweet Erk their good.

You might get your food spit in, but hey, I think Vandy's, Gnat's, Dingus, or Big Shows would be the place to go if you wanted to talk football.

Big Shows is right across the street from the stadium isn't it? Might be a cool place to go for an out of towner. I think the FOC is open to the public during the day.

Great choice. You won't be disappointed (provided it is open)

Me and my wife's favorite. Don't let the outside of the building scare you.

Thai tea and basil rolls are suggestions for drink and appetizer.
