Anyone remember the name and why he did not sign with us. I think we had a shot but we refused to sign.

Didn't he sign with Michigan? Can't recall if they offered or gave him a walk on spot.

RE: Thomas Rawls
Yeah, he signed with Michigan.

Perhaps he was considering transferring to UC rather than Central Michigan?

Michigan came in late and signed him, we were the leader in his recruitment for a while though. Much like Dennis Norfleet, he was sold on a pitch that didn't end up panning out, but Rawls actually decided to leave to get some actual playing time. Worked out pretty dang well.

Ah. I couldn't remember his recruiting specifics, I just knew he had wanted that Michigan offer for years.

Rawls really developed physically after he left Michigan. Part of that was his dedication to being his best for his final season. I wonder how much it reflects how bad Michigan's strength and conditioning at the time though. Not to mention he just wasn't a great fit with the leftover players from Rodriguez's system, which really didn't allow his kind of running game.

RE: Thomas Rawls
Rawls stole a purse and credit cards from a 62 year old women in a casino in Mt. Pleasant just prior to his enrollment at CMU in 2014. He pleaded guilty to the charges. CMU's HC Enos reinstated him immediately after the hearing for a game against Toledo.
