Yeah...this can't help the argument...

GS or App can take one for the team and lose to USA so that all of our bowls will be filled. Too bad stAte can't help with this situation03-wink

GO JAGS!!!!

That could solve the Go Daddy issue. USA fills up stadium on a bad mid-week night and Hotels and restaurants really push for the MAC school to come down for Christmas. That is just a terrible time slot

stAte to NOLA, App to Montgomery and Ga So to Cure. If Ga St. gets eligible they would get an at-large.

Can't help but feel like this is the most likely outcome if USA gets eligible.

That would be completely against the way Go Daddy operates, They want the best available Sun Belt team, regardless of location. They'll take App, and Montgomery will take USA in such a scenario.

Arkansas State can take more than 10k 450 miles from Jonesboro to Mobile for a date that means the kids miss a day of school and requires missing work on the day people come back from Christmas vacation but Georgia State can't take fans 461 miles to the same location when school is out and many already planned to be off work?

You can't take fans 293 miles to Montgomery because it's too damned hard of travel but you can swing 315 miles to Orlando?

Being the second choice is an honor. Being the third ought to be nice. Frankly I'd be pretty concerned if ESPN said we would rather allow you to be on a competing network in Orlando and show someone else than have you in a bowl we OWN in Montgomery.

Fixed to prevent annoyed Georgia Southern fans.

Yeah freaking hilarious that Mobile has shown time and again they want to pit the strongest teams possible and fans continue to think one of the absolute best run G5 bowl games (and I've been to several) is a booby prize. Going to Mobile usually means you are the best available team, not you project to be the best at selling tix.

I don't know about other GS fans but none in my group can make the Mobile game. Between work and family it just can't happen. Any other game and I got about 8 going.
Why wasn't this last year.smh

App would have the same record OOC w your OOC schedule the last two years, not sure what your point is.

Yes, you guys got Louisiana instead of NMSU.

(can't find the exact right emoticon I want to use here)

A GS fan talking about tough conference schedules, priceless.

My point is, you don't know what is tough or not, until the season is over. Not before.

Any conference schedule that has stAte on it, is tougher than one which doesn't.

Having stAte on the schedule is clearly the difference this year. *Didn't play UL on the other hand...

Definitely.

I think GaSt had a tougher conference schedule. Since spring games don't count, App, Ga Southern, and stAte can't say they played the top 3 teams in the conference.

App's schedule was the toughest of the top 3 teams (App, Ga Southern and stAte).

We play the conference we are given. Every GS fan I know would want us to play Ark St and we get to do that next year.

RE: Bowl outlook after Week 12
Teams that played All 3 of Arkansas State/Georgia Southern/App State

Georgia State
UL Monroe
South Alabama
Idaho

If we go from there...

Georgia State does not play 11th place ULM and 9th place (May be 10th after this week) Idaho

USA does not play 11th place ULM and NMSU

ULM does not play USA or Georgia State

Idaho does not play ULL or Georgia State.

Based on who they are sitting out, Georgia State had the toughest OOC schedule. App State would be up there because they miss Texas State and NMSU, but based on standings, both Texas State and NMSU will likely finish ahead of Idaho and ULM. In addition, App faced their 3 toughest games in Boone this year, which lightens the load quite a bit.

And you get the joy of coming to Jonesboro first...should make things interesting, especially as we try to replace our 3 big horses on offense.

I guess the only way to not have some teams playing others is to drop to a 10 team league and play 9 conference games.

I am not sure that will happen however

We are replacing a lot on defense. The offense should be fine (perhaps even improved), but our D will likely take a step back.
