Well, we are still better than CMU, back-to-back victories...
...four of the last five. The Cannon Trophy and Michigan MAC trophies are where they belong.
If there is any doubt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1-cf2ifA1c
And no WMU players on police blotters like so many of the Enos recruits.
While we have much greater aspirations (as we should), we can be thankful for the small things.
That said, last night's game was disturbing. I'm ticked and looking for something positive.

And the kicker is they're still likely to finish ahead of us in the division.

However, when WMU finishes behind CMU in the standings are they in fact really better than them?

Which makes zero difference unless one of you wins the division.
3rd place? 4th place? So what?
I'll take the head-to-head win(s) and so would any player, coach or fan with self-respect.

If CMU is better, why is the Cannon Trophy in Kalamazoo for the 2nd consecutive year?
Check-mate.

Did CMU have to play Bowling Green?

You are what your record says you are.
Do you consider the 2000 CMU team that beat us (MAC champs) better than us?
Frankly CMU got far more out of far less and at this point is better coached and a better team.
Centrals problems will begin after next year. They've had 3 years of poor recruiting and it will begin to show. But for now, Fleck is looking up at them. Might be the worst job of coaching since Gary Darnell's last year.

makes a difference......
Guys - this is WMU. It's beyond Peej, Darnell, the players, etc. We are mediocre with no pedigree. It is what is it. Our Superbowl is the CMU game, just like the Lions draft day.
Either Peej will change the culture (and coach better on game day) or he won't and we'll be on to the next mediocre loser.
Man where we outcoached last night. The turnover on the Kickoff was inexcusable. Everyone deep when they are kicking off into a 40 mph wind??? Dude needs to step up his game and get ELITE on the sidelines. I'll take Carey any day.

Unless you win the division, like WMU did in 2000 (we did not win the MAC Championship), head-to-head trumps where you place.
Yes, you are what your record says you are...2-0 vs. CMU the last two years, and the Cannon Trophy is where it belongs. WMU is better at this time.
That said, I agree Bonamego has done a masterful job with the train-wreck he inherited from Enos. I also think he would have done more with WMU's superior talent than Fleck did this year.
CMU could have some trouble next year with so much of its offensive line leaving, but Bonamego also will start incorporating a more high-tempo, read-option offense that will help.

Keep your chins up Broncos. It has only been 27 years since your last, and only, MAC Championship. Maybe next year?
Your Bowl losing streak of 54 years could come to an end this year, so there is that.

How about CMU's honorable streak of football player felonies? And your AD wanted to extend Enos' contract?
Or, how 'bout 41-39, back-to-back, four of the last five years.
Where is the Cannon Trophy, son? Where has it been the last TWO years?

Yes, thanks to Dave Heeke, we are better than Central in Football.
One step ahead of mediocre.

Well, you tied in 1966, but we all know that had you been required to play a championship game to resolve it, you would have lost.

They have a likable 1st year coach. Ad CMU. I think he will recruit just fine too.

lol
When we were winning championships several years back, I bragged about it to anyone who would listen.
Serious question, have you EVER bragged about the Michigan MAC trophy to anyone? Anyone at all?
Thanks.
p.s. it's evident this one believes the Texans are better than the Bengals and that the 49ers are better than the Vikings...you know, because a small sample size provides more evidence than a large one.
