Oh come on, let's be honest here.

I think Fleck is an under achiever. Bono and CNU are about where they should be, but compared to Enos he's overachieved. But in the big scheme of things both teams are average at best. If you had got BG on your schedule we'd both be setting at a pedestrian 6-6. You'd be thrilled, we'd be pissed.

If Bono shows he can recruit next year you might be a future contender. If not it will be Enos II. All this faux chest thumping means nothing. Neither are league champs or even close to it.

Your Bowl losing streak of 54 years could come to an end this year, so there is that. 02-13-banana

How about CMU's honorable streak of football player felonies? And your AD wanted to extend Enos' contract? 01-wingedeagle

Or, how 'bout 41-39, back-to-back, four of the last five years.

Where is the Cannon Trophy, son? Where has it been the last TWO years?

lol

When we were winning championships several years back, I bragged about it to anyone who would listen.

Serious question, have you EVER bragged about the Michigan MAC trophy to anyone? Anyone at all?

Thanks.

p.s. it's evident this one believes the Texans are better than the Bengals and that the 49ers are better than the Vikings...you know, because a small sample size provides more evidence than a large one.

And have you ever bragged about your team finishing 3rd or 4th in its division to anyone? Anyone at all? Didn't think so. 01-wingedeagle

The Cannon Trophy and Michigan MAC Trophy may be seen in Kalamazoo, not Mount Pleasant. 04-rock

41-39.

Thanks.

Bottom-line, the trophy(ies) represent the best MAC team in Michigan based on head-to-head competition.

They are in Kalamazoo, not Mount Pleasant.

No bragging, just facts.

I am very proud of the 8+ minute drive WMU engineered in October to beat CMU. I am also proud of the fact our coach decided not to run-up the score when the ball was inside the 1-yard-line as the game ended. CMU's defense was gassed, weak and at Fleck's mercy.

Did I mention it was an 8+ minute drive?

Come to Kalamazoo, see the trophies, have a Bell's and relive that memory.

What trophy will CMU get for a 3rd or 4th place finish?

Not gonna argue that WMU beat CMU and holds the coveted Michigan MAC trophy. Meanwhile, its just another year of hearing about how THIS was the year that WMU was going to win the MAC only to fall woefully short.
27 years and counting. Want to talk about trophies in that time, there are at least 4 possibly 5 MAC Championship trophies in Mt P.

Rationalize things however you want. The season is once again a failure.

I would also contend that 2 straight "best recruiting classes in MAC history" don't matter if nothing comes of them. CMU lost 2/3 of their starters from last season, had to find a coach late in the recruiting process and were picked to be dreadful. You tell me, which coaching job has been better.

You are also correct, that 3rd or 4th really aren't any different. The point is, WMU is once again going to finish out of the champhionship mix....AGAIN.

Agree on all points.

And if you read the beginning of this thread, you will note where I posted I was finding something positive to grab after a disappointing game last night.

It has not been a good season, but at least we beat CMU and the Cannon and Michigan MAC Trophies are where they rightfully belong.

Arrows has the trump card, their program actually has won something, and a bowl.

What has CMU won since John Bonamego arrived? What bowl? He couldn't beat Fleck!

Since Butch Jones left, the Chippewa program has not won anything noteworthy and has been in shambles on and off the field. Bonamego will, however, likely make it better.

In his first season he has them bowl eligible, where as PJ sunk WMU to the depth of a 1-11 season. And don't tell me the cupboard was bare because a lot of the Cubit players contributed to the wins these past two seasons.

What bowl?!?!? His first season isn't even over, he's close to being bowl eligible though.

We were lucky to get by them, they beat themselves early on.

It's very interesting that you mention trophies when trying to deride Central Michigan Football.

You do realize that they have seven Mid-American Championship trophies, right?

You do realize that they have three bowl championship trophies, right?

Just let that sink in before you get all cocky about a couple of traveling trophies that change hands every year or two. We could lose both the Cannon Trophy and the Michigan MAC Trophy next season...MAC Championships and bowl wins last forever.

Oh, this clown again. First came here as Kazoochip, then as Coax. Outted him and he disappeared, now returns as Kazoomike.

I have a friend in the 90's who owned several businesses. He was often insufferable. Around the turn of the century his businesses started going south, his marriage failed, and eventually he lost it all, and has never got it back. None the less, rather than focus on his current condition he is always telling you how it was for him during his glory years.

While I or the others are disappointed in last nights outcome, I doubt there is one person here that is looking at CMU as what we want to aspire to. I doubt there is one person here who would like to swap rosters or recruiting classes with CMU.

I for one am not breaking a sweat over finishing below CMU in the standings. Judging by the last 5 meetings and the accompanying hardware I'm quite comfortable with that match up.

By all means you can rejoice in past glories, but we both know that past glories soon become faint memories when the next man in goes 3-9 or 1-11.

I for one like our future far more than Central's. Poo poo recruiting if you'd like, but it's cumulative, and at some point it trumps good coaching and a winning tradition. NIU has a winning tradition and solid coaching. UT has great recruiting and solid coaching. WMU is building on solid recruiting.

What is CMU building on?
Recruiting? The last 3 years are flat out bad
Coaching? Like us the jury is still out
Winning? It's been 6 years

In the meantime I think we've handled this rivalry fairly easily since the glory days of BK and Butch.

At this point I like our future. If you want to crow about your amazing 3rd place finish, go ahead. But please, stop trying to sanatise your 6 year decline by pointing to yesteryear. Army has won 5 national titles. Does it have any bearing on their current state of affairs?

Recruiting trumps good coaching? Did you really just say that? Sweet Jesus, could you be any more clueless? I feel like I need to "sanatise" my eyes after reading that drivel you just posted.

Good coaching can lead to and make a coach good at recruiting.

Good recruiting does not make a coach good at coaching.

It's like hitting the driver. If you're long and accurate, the game is that much easier. BUT, many people put up good numbers with weak driving because they're good golfers. Driving is recruiting.

Drive for show.

Recruiting trumps good coaching? Did you really just say that? Sweet Jesus, could you be any more clueless? I feel like I need to "sanatise" my eyes after reading that drivel you just posted.

Thanks.

You pretend that all is well. That Bono is a brilliant coach. Tell me Arrow, what's in the pipeline at RB, LB, OL, DT, and most important QUARTERBACK?

Answer, NOTHING.

BONO is as good as his schedule and will go as far as his QB can take him. And I will echo that in regard to WMU. We were as good as our schedule.

I never said Bono was a great coach or Fleck was a terrible coach. I think they're about even, and we were between 9 and 28 points better than you. No, not two points.

Tallest midget, fo sho.

My issue really isn't with Arrow, he's a realist. It was more at Kazoomike/chip/coax........possibly 42, who is a sockpuppet.
