Rumored to be a top candidate at Mizzou.

Its nice to have a 3 million dollar price tag on our coach's head, he's not getting many mentions at all other than the typical "well Arkansas State coaches have moved a lot recently, so he could too" garbage.

I'm not sure that Fritz at Missouri is a natural fit, but it would be interesting...

Dear Mizzou AD,

Do not hire Fritz. Blah blah blah Gimmicky offense blah blah blah One-dimensional blah blah blah disciplined SEC defenses blah blah blah there is a reason few schools run the option.

Signed,

Georgia Southern

They're likely looking at Tom Herman.

Which would leave the Houston job open for Fritz.

Which he wasn't a top candidate for last time.

Yep, that 3 mill will help.

Herman is going to sign a new deal with Houston soon. Although I think it's more for buyout protection on Houston's part.

I love Coach Fritz and believe he is one heck of a coach. That said, I just don't see an SEC school moving to any kind of option attack.

Fritz was at Central Missouri 6 years ago. If Warrensburg, Missouri is a good fit for probably $120,000/yr...then Columbia, Missouri would be a good fit for probably $2,000,000/yr.

FWIW Fritz didn't run the option at Central Missouri or SHSU.

It isn't that Mizzou is open that should have successful SBC teams worried. It's that Mizzou, USC, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Miami, Maryland, and Illinois(among a few others) are open. And that's right now. Will there be more openings? Kansas State might open if Bill Snyder retires, but it would be bad timing for Kansas State with all the other openings, so maybe he tries to stick it out one more year.

Wasn't that the first rub when he got hired? Everyone thought he was going to completely change Southern's offense?

Any head coach opening at a p5 school concerns me. Not worried about AAC or below. Too much a lateral move

IDK that UCF opening could be quite lucrative and they do have a history of winning the big ones there which may also appeal to some G5 coaches.

Dear SEC AD's, GS can't throw a lick which means Pistol Willie can't coach the passing game, therefore you should not hire him.

No the rub would have been if a non option based offensive system coach would have been hired. We remember the dark years.

RE: Willie Fritz
As much as we'd like to see the Eagles have more success throwing the ball, that could be what keeps a huge P5 with way too much money from swooping in and getting Fritz.

It would be one thing if his system wants to run 95 percent of the time, but he spent an entire offseason talking about how we would pass more and things have gotten worse instead of better. Honestly, I'd like to see improvement regardless of what that means for Fritz's tenure in Statesboro, but I can definitely see where a Mizzou/Maryland/Illinois/whoever would balk at hiring a coach that runs a one-dimensional offense that hasn't improved in the second dimension despite putting plenty of focus on doing so.

No. He ran the option, and a lot of triple option concepts at SHSU.

The problem was it was out of the shotgun which our fanbase considered the spawn of Satan (and some still do).
