RE: Cincy should join the MAC
UC was in a much different MAC than what exists today. The chart members of the conference in 1947 were UC, Ohio University, Case Western, Butler and Wayne State University. Back in those days Case Western, Wayne State and Butler had successful football programs that played at a high level.
Wayne State left after the first year and Case Western deemphasized athletics a couple years later. Miami University and Western University were added. Subsequently the conference moved to add Toledo, Kent State and Bowling Green. UC decided that conference make up was not doable (the league passed a requirement that teams play 5 conference games) and withdrew.
Bottom line the MAC conference was not right for UC in 1953 and is not right for UC in 2015.

To be so close to a New Year's Day bowl game and then to do what Memphis does best ....blow it....really must hurt...

Makes sense. Make it happen. Southern American would destroy the big Mac.

Geographically speaking perhaps (although the B10 also is in the same geographical location), but institutionally we do not have much in common with most of the MAC schools save for Buffalo. Like UC, Buffalo is an urban public with very high research activity and a large endowment Most of the MAC schools are liberal arts focused and are located in small college towns. The major distinction between UC and Buffalo is UC has a prolonged history of success and spends a lot more money on it.

This was pretty solid from SK for once. But it's easier when you are posting in a conference full of schools with serious inferiority complexes (including UC).
If Bearcats#1 posted a thread about how Memphis State should join the Sunbelt, noting they have very similar academic profiles, geography, and have similar histories of non-success in football, the full power of MT.org would be unleashed on the board.
