Exclamation AAC's bowl season
I think this years results were strange result wise. I don't see this being a trend for the conference. I think next year will be much better with stronger teams.

RE: AAC's bowl season
If Houston wins its bowl game then we had a good season as a conference.

1. Get the Access Bowl
2. Win the Access Bowl

Rest it's window dressing

If Houston wins, we will still finish the season with 2 ranked teams and an Access Bowl win.

Agree about the window dressing, but I do not think we have to win the access bowl every year, we just need to monopolize it.

Agreed. People don't remember, or care, who wins the Beef O Brady's Bowl. People remember who wins the NY6 bowls. That's all that matters, and I think we're all proud of Houston's football team and the program that has developed so quickly.

I think we're locked in with 2 ranked teams already, but yes, winning the Peach Bowl would be a nice little cherry on top and would maybe get us into the top 10 (we're currently 14th in the AP).

"we just need to monopolize it."

Who doesn't? Even a one-loss MAC team will have an argument. OOC scheduling is too random. There are no set "pecking orders" like in the P5. Boise State still has some legitimacy left. Our bottoms are pretty bad and kill our SOS.

If Houston wins, they can even compete for a playoffs-spot next year.

No, the AAC plays by FAR the toughest OOC schedule and gets a lot of P5 home games which helps. There IS a pecking order.

RE: AAC's bowl season
Based on the results of the other AAC teams. I think it obvious that Houston has a huge hurdle today in FSU. FSU D will stuff Htowns O so I hope Houston can play some D. It will be close until half and FSU pulls away and wins by at least 21.

1-7 with only Navy winning will be the final record for bowls. Great regular season because of OOC wins against the ACC and Ole Miss. I think the bowl games are more representative of the talent in the AAC which is on par with the other G5 conferences. Humble and nervous would have been a much better approach to take then the over hyping P6 bullshite a lot of AAC fans showed this year. I did enjoy the humble pie after this bowl season.

Good luck today Houston.

How on earth are the bowl games more of a true measure of talent than the OOC reg season? That makes no sense. Bowl games are their own deals.

Memphis beat Ole Miss and Kansas
Houston beat Vandy and Louisville
ECU beat Va Tech
Temple beat Penn State
Cincy beat Miami (FL)
USF beat Syracuse
Navy beat Pitt

Thats 9 P5 wins to CUSA's 2

03-lmfao regular season games decide conference championships and bowl eligibility. Bowl games count for?
Bowl games are exhibition games which is shy they are hard to predict, you have no idea which team has taken the game seriously and which team is having a nice paid vacation. I would take a regular season win over a bowl game win every time unless the bowl was a playoff or an Access Bowl

I'm sure people are laughing at that, but 247's way too early 2016 rankings have us at #12. We open 2016 at NRG (Texans' stadium) against their #2 OU. Side-note, what a freakin' epic game that is going to be. Find a way to somehow win that, and we'd go into week 2 somewhere between #5-10.

The road map is there for it to happen, no doubt.

The only, and I mean ONLY, bowls that matter are the NY6 and the CFP. That's why you play. Everything else is the NIT, CBI, and CIT. No one gives a happy crap about bowl games. They only care how many games you won in the regular season, whether you won a conference title, and whether you were in the big postseason games.

RE: AAC's bowl season
From a national perspective if Houston wins today no one will care about what the other AAC teams did. The league will finish with 2 ranked teams, 1 in the top 20 and the other probably either in or near the top 10. Lose it close and nationally the AAC will still be alright. Lose it bad and then the national narrative will be about how the AAC was a fraud all year.

No one should be. Even if you start a little lower than that preseason, in the high teens low 20's perhaps, you guys beat OU you will immediately be a playoff contender for the rest of the year unless/until you lose. I think the game today will have a big impact on how high they rank you preseason next year.
