not being a homer but i think we can win comfortably if jackson can play and is healthy to play his regular game ....and could win/lose in a shootout if he can't play
but will say this, if he cant play and our defense looks remotely decent, we will dominate next year. he is the one piece i have felt would impossible to replace next year

and weirdly enough despite cincy getting yards on us i actually feel really good about our defense after that game. cincy's oline is way better than Memphis (and gunner had a long pocket), cincy only started scoring at will when jackson was injured. and memphis WR arent on the level of cincy's , no offense (who yanked 4 passes that should have been picks from our dbs hands and made catches out of it)

i think we will be able to run and or pass on memphis ..the key to the game in my opinion is how much time can paxton create with his feet and if he does create time, how open will his WR's be (depending on the jackson news)

That is a good one.

Memphis, strangely enough, hasn't lost on the road since we lost to Ole Miss last year. Fuente has occasionally extolled the virtues of the players seemingly being much more focused on road games, not distracted, and not bothered by being on the road, and thrive on it. (Nevermind 40,000 is nothing compared to the near 93,000 seats at the Rose Bowl last year).

What will matter, mainly, is rather or not Memphis is focused and sharp. Ward Jr. is a nightmare, and although Memphis has had some exposure to QBs that can run recently, nothing like Ward. The defense tends to make stops in crunch time, enough to give the offense a leg if they can take advantage of it. One of the big problems we had against Navy last week was that, on those stops, our offense did nothing for the most part.

I'm picking Memphis to win in a shoot out. Maybe even something similar to how the game between Memphis vs BYU went down at the Miami Beach Bowl last year.

While it didn't materialize in the Navy game, there has been a distinct difference between the 1st quarter defense and the 3rd and 4th quarter defense for the Tigers this year. Ward is a chore to keep up with and drag down, so this game may be similar to the Navy game where the defense just never really catches up, but that's not the norm for this defense.

Cincy's WR are freaks of nature. 3 of them are AVERAGING over 22 YPC.

I was getting frustrated by our long developing blitzes (like the one Stewart got the safety on), because if Gunner saw it coming, it didn't matter if it was going to get picked up or not. He didn't even have to actually find someone open, he could just heave it to one of their 6'3-6'6 manbeasts, and they were coming down with it.

im guessing you also didnt watch the game (again), gunner threw alot of jump balls, and our DB's were in position to pick it and their WR just kept yanking it from them

one of the plays actually made the conference highlight reel (at :49 seonds)
https://youtu.be/ndZQ0ILsJRY?t=49s

im not calling it luck or anything, cincy WR's are skilled and made crazy plays over an over for them
we still got 2 picks

im just saying ive watched every memphis game this year and the caliber of receiver at cincy and Memphis arent the same

Both have @ss kicking wins over so called P5 schools. Should make for a great football game on ESPN2. If I, or anyone else knew who was gonna win and by what margin, well hell, we'd all be billionaires. Come 6:00 Saturday night, tee it up and we'll see what happens, should be a doozy. Getting close to game time, till then, for the 2-3 Tiger/Coog fans in the aforementioned p!ssing match continue on with the my daddy can beat up your daddy bullshyte, the rest of us will just sit back and enjoy (laugh at) your childish antics....GO TIGERS!!!!

So you are saying that they have good players, they are very well coached, and they run good stuff. Sounds vaguely familiar. 03-lmfao

But is Herman a dear dear friend?

The meltdown by some Houston fans will be entertaining late Saturday.

I'd say Houston has 70% chance to win this one. If Paxton has a good night then it could be Memphis game. Also if Houston's OL has a bad game it could hurt us a lot. Not sure I can speak to the OL/DL of Memphis so we'll see.

Special teams Houston????? NO WAY!!! Memphis has one of (if not the best) place kicker in the nation, our punter is one of the best in the nation (however we don't have to punt often) and our return game is average....advantage Memphis.

QB- Memphis
Rushing- Houston
Defense- Houston
Home Field - push.....not much of an advantage when only 20,000 people show up for most of your games!!! Memphis has not lost a road game in over a year. 25,000-30,000 Houston fans will not rattle the Tigers

This game will be all about turnovers. If Memphis plays like they did vs Navy, Houston will have a field day with our turnovers. If Memphis protects the ball like we have done most of the year and can force a turnover or 2, the Tigers win. As a Memphis fan, I hope either the Tigers win or it's at least a close game down to the final minute. The AAC needs to have a great showing every time we get a prime time game on ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC!!!! NO matter what, with 2 ranked teams playing this late in the season, the winner better be around #15 or #16 when the next playoff poll comes out.

it rained heavily the last 2 games but both those games averaged over 33 thousand tickets sold per

next you're going to tell me LSU doesnt have a home field advantage because only about 33k people showed up when it rained for the WKU game

and so we are clear, you are aware that the Memphis game has already sold out? if you are going trash talk atleast do basic research

According to the Houston Cougars ticket link, there are still a bunch of tickets left and even A LOT more if you use the resale option. So....I did my research and it's not trash talk!!!! It just amazes me that an undefeated team can't find enough people in one of the largest cities in the country to fill such a small stadium EVERY GAME!!! I hope you are right and the game is a sell out. If not, that is just sad. The AAC needs to have near full stadiums during prime time games. Nothing I said was untrue or meant to be trash talking. Afterall, you guys beat us last year and are ahead of us in the AAC West this year. Here is the direct link if you want to see where I got my "research" from and make sure you turn off the resale option so you can see the tickets that have NOT been sold to anyone including a 3rd party........http://www.ticketmaster.com/university-of-houston-cougars-vs-memphis-houston-texas-11-14-2015/event/3A004ECFADE51DE5?artistid=846092&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=8

That is great. I love a good kick off return (most exciting play in football). However, almost 90% of our kickoffs have been touchbacks because our kicker kicks it out of the back of the endzone. That stops any weapons you have in the return game. I would love to see both teams run a few back to make the game even more exciting, but I don't think our kicker is going to allow that to happen.

Man, I don't get involved in attendance trash talk because not too long ago, our attendance was pretty crappy for a good while, BUT this game is nowhere near sold out.

Here is the direct link if you want to see where I got my "research" from and make sure you turn off the resale option so you can see the tickets that have NOT been sold to anyone including a 3rd party........http://www.ticketmaster.com/university-of-houston-cougars-vs-memphis-houston-texas-11-14-2015/event/3A004ECFADE51DE5?artistid=846092&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=8

people are resellling tickets they already bought... becuase they know it will be sell out and are hicking prices..
you can get tickets to any "soldout" game on tickmaster...what ridiculous logic..you clearly dont know what sold out means

people re-selling tickets has nothing to do with it being soldout... our school announced 3 days ago that they will hold a select few tickets for students to buy for friends (3k tickets which is normally reserved ) but beyond that all general admission tickets are sold out but those tickets were open to the public as of yesterday night

and up until last year your attendance has been trash... why i cant stand some memphis fans, you have 1 decent year, with local big ooc coming to town and now you pretend like you are some monster than can look down on other people. you had 5k actual fans at your games just 2 years ago

NO matter what, with 2 ranked teams playing this late in the season, the winner better be around #15 or #16 when the next playoff poll comes out.

and so we are clear, you are aware that the Memphis game has already sold out? if you are going trash talk atleast do basic research

Nothing I sad was untrue or meant to be trash talking. Wrong, brother. The seats in blue are NOT resale seats. Those are normal seats for sale by the venue; and there are thousands available. I have no doubt that by gametime, it will be a near sell out. Maybe even a true sell out. But right now, nowhere close.
