Coaches that have us on their schedule won't do much mocking anymore. Ask Pete Lembo and Chuck Martin.

Brochoach's is the butt of jokes in coaching/media circles.

I saw that also, but then Neuheisel was doing a morning talk show drooling all over about Fleck and WMU. So I think we both took Neuheisels act all wrong.

It pains me to see my university be the butt of jokes. The oars on uniforms. Really? Taken this Row The Boat thing WAY too far.

Coach doing the Row The Boat dance on the field.

I agree to an extent here. Not big on all the "rowing" reminders during the in-game experience.

Although 11-2 in our last bakers dozen of MAC games helps deflect a lot of those 'jokes.'

Tricky Rick had some well known and some not so well known personal problems that help take him down. At one time he was the next big young coach, who had early success and was a hot ticket.

Ummmm yeah.

I don't think these coaches are making fun of it....some of Rick's "catchy" little gimmicks back in the day were thought of as quite progressive (read annoying) to his peers too.

As were Hawkin's at Boise, Rich Rod at scum, the list goes on.

RE: Well, we are in first place.....
Rick's best moments at Ucla ended when he graduated as a player. He was walking a fine line last night between making fun of fleck and being "entertaining" as a commentator, in my opinion. What really irked me was the main anchor saying the big match up for western next is Toledo... nice homework..i.e. none... The play by play and color guys I thought were great...kept it very interesting when that game could have gone boring from a broadcasting standpoint very fast as a blowout. Still can't breakthrough the MAC respect glass ceiling..that MAC conference PROMOTION does not do anyone in the league any favors and should be taken off the air right away. Just because we are "small time" or whatever it says...come on.

Well to be fair, when you can hear conversations in the stands over the broadcast, it doesn't help our cause.

Letterman you are dead right....why anybody gives a conference respect that can't sell out games that mean everything to conference placement (see Toledo/NIU) would be beyond me.....coaches leave this conference for the money, but a little bit of it has to do with the fact that they know, no matter how good "insert MAC team here" gets, the atmosphere will never be equal to the bigger schools. Hell even perennial doormats of P5 conferences outdraw good MAC teams yer in and year out, why would anybody stay is beyond me....

As I've told others on several occasions regarding MAC athletics..."there's no correlation between popularity and the quality of an event". We've got an extremely solid, high quality, high entertainment value set of D1 programs right in front of us. Whether others choose to participate is their choice and, often times, their loss (win or lose). Call me whatever you'd like (which I'm sure you will...likely within a very few minutes!).

:cheers:AGREE, you hit the nail on the head. The glass half empty police will soon reply just as you predicted. Go Broncos. What I always wonder about them is why the supposedly root for and support a MAC school when it is so unworthy of support.

Quite the dichotomy, you're watching quality football that competes with lower echelon p5 type programs quite well, yet you see their attendance, the lower rung p5 teams have 30-40k in their stands no matter when they play. Many are in smaller towns, so that's not quite the excuse either.

It's frustrating to say the least.

Buttons, I always root for WMU. I don't like Fleck.

If WMU wins Fleck is gone. He was ready to take a lateral move last year, that's how bad he wanted out.

If he leaves I hope we hire Cirrocci sp as head coach and promote Reynolds and Hart to DC and OC.

I've been told that Cirrocci is the brains of program anyway.

They also have 'big' name schools coming into their stadium. People don't want to come see MAC schools, even if it is a big conference game. When you come to NIU, hopefully you'll be undefeated and we'll have 1 loss, but it won't sell out on a cold Tuesday night. Most, if not all big ten teams would sell out if they came to huskie stadium.

Thanks for making my point. It's quite the dichotomy. Even when Illinois plays IU they draw 30-40k. It's perception, not reality.
