Smile Looks good for 5 Belt teams bowling this year
From looking at projections almost all have 5 Belt teams bowling. The 5 th looks to be either the Arizona or the Independence Bowl.

The Question is whether we can get 5 teams eligible.

I think it will turn out to be 4 (the 3 leaders, plus the winner of ULL/USA)... but we'll see.

Would be nice to get 5

If we can beat GS. (We are obviously capable) I think we get to 6

Well TXST has a "supposed to be easy" schedule to finish out the year so they should win out or have 1 loss to stAte, which would put them at 6-6 or 7-5.
Rest of schedule:
NMSU
GSU
ULM
@Idaho
@stAte

But if we dont get invited to a bowl I wouldnt be surprised. We havent beaten anyone with a winning record all season even if we win the next 4.

One thing that I'm interested to see is if the bowls actually do invite some 5-7 teams. There is a lot of speculation that all 40 bowls (yes: 40 bowls. 80 bowl teams.) won't be able to be filled without reaching down for some 5-7 teams. If that happens, then obviously a lot of projections (like mine, heh) will have to be changed.

At least it appears no bowl eligible Belt team will be left out this year

I saw a copy of a tweet from one of the ESPN dart throwers who said it's almost a given that at least several 5-7 teams will go bowling this year in order to field teams for the games.

Yeah but at this time last year I really thought GS would be bowling because most of the experts were projecting being 2 or 3 teams short. What happened? A few upsets here and there near the end of the season and suddenly we are several teams over what is needed.

Well yeah, but you're ignoring the conspiracy. And the fact that there's no evidence of a conspiracy, only makes it all the more likely.

RE: Looks good for 5 Belt teams bowling this year
I admit there was a point in my life when I would've gladly devoted the time to scrutinize the W-L records and remaining schedule of each team, and have my own predictions of how many teams would finish 6-6 or better. But that's long past, and now I just follow the hype from sites like this, plus the professional media. Sounds like there are going to be either some 5-7 teams in bowl games, or else some bowl games that get cancelled.

No bowl games are going to be cancelled. Some may be reevaluated for next year, but you will not see a bowl game cancelled due to lack of participants at 6-6 or better.

South must win over Idaho this weekend to have a chance. We must win our next 3(Idaho,ULL, and Ga State). I don't think we will beat Georgia Southern or App State.

FIU is the team to watch for the Arizona Bowl spot. They are 4-5 and have Charlotte, at Marshall and Western Kentucky remaining. I think they finish 5-7 and leave CUSA one spot short.

It's a crazy world so who knows what will happen. But I'd be stunned if FIU beats Marshall or WKU
