This is recruiting. This is how you f*cking recruit.
I don't follow recruiting much besides what is on this form but are you saying Artrell pushed him away from UC? That's disappointing.

They all make sense to try. This is recruiting.
Jesus people, should we not have tried 4 star Josh Whyle since Urban was knocking down his door? Should we have told 4 star Malik Vann to stay home because MSU was a lock? Should we have given up on 4 star Tavion Thomas when he committed to Oklahoma? Maybe BDF should have told 4 star Leonard Taylor to watch the Big Ten network instead of visiting. If the parents hadn't intervened, I'd be able to add 4 star Aeneas Hawkins to this list.

The T-Shirt gets it. They may be out of reach, but you have to try. This forum complained that Tubbs did not recruit hard enough, or even try and contact some of the local guys.
The new staff tries to land any big Ohio recruit they can, and they have shown to really be committed to a locally built team and people STILL complain.
bunch of grumpy wrinkle dicks in here.

Aeneas is behind two JR starters. Then two SOs, a RS FR and a true FR.

To be fair, the ONLY reason he went to UH was because his brother went there. This is straight from, Mr. Oliver's, mouth. He badly wanted to go to LSU.
Anyway, no one is saying that we shouldn't have kids visit. At least i wasn't.
All I'm saying is.....kids in 2020 aren't likely to commit anytime soon. They've said as much. So, for the sake of my sanity, and focus, I'm not paying 2020 kids any mind. There's still a long long time until the 2019 class can sign. So....whatever with these kids who are 1.5 years away from signing. They're going to change their minds 20x at least.
In the meantime, sure....great job having them on campus. I just don't have the bandwidth to GAF about their recruiting right now.
Simmer down everyone.

Speaking of which, it'll be interesting to see how the 2020 recruiting cycle plays out. The Cincinnati area is absolutely stacked with talent in that class just quickly looking at the 2020 rankings. Hopefully this staff can capitalize on this momentum.

Considering how we're just about done with the c/o 2019 it stands to reason that our staff can really lean in to going after '20 kids now.
I have heard a lot about how stacked Cincy is for that year, but haven't heard what position groups are loaded. Any idea?

Unfortunately, RB is absolutely loaded. I'm sure we will still land one but there definitely won't be early playing time to be had.

Cam Porter - LaSalle
David Afari - Lakota West
Miyan Williams - Winton Woods

They just gave him a rating yesterday it appears. Probably a placeholder since he's a commit...I would assume that changes one way or another in the spring re-evals.

He's currently seen as the 28th best recruit in Ohio. Not bad!
Also agree that this is very early, and just a placeholder until more scouting is done. He's going to get a lot more attention soon enough. Hopefully we lock this kid down, and his stature grows so that he may become a great recruiter on our behalf.

Surprised one of the big boys hasn't lured Marrow away. It's amazing they can convince guys to go their over big time programs.
UK gets a lot of decommitments. In 2018 UK decommit Meechi Harris from Xenia became a Bearcat, one of eight UK decommits from that class.
In 2017, longtime UK commit Truck Warren became a Bearcat.
Truck's Toledo Central Catholic teammate, James Hudson a very good OT for Mich, and a long time UK commitment has just left Mich and may very well end up a Bearcat. The Truck was one of six UK decommits that year.
In 2018, the Bearcats two best recruits were 4 stars Leonard Taylor from Springfield HS, OH and Tavion Thomas from Dayton Dunbar HS.
Taylor was flipped from Michigan and Thomas was flipped from Oklahoma. The Fickell staff is really good at flipping highly rated Ohio talent. This skill will continue in 2019 and 2020.

Generally agree with the sentiment, however neither Taylor or Thomas were flipped. Thomas was either dropped or decommitted from Oklahoma, depending on who's story you choose to believe. People backed off him because they didn't think he would qualify.
Meanwhile, Taylor wasn't committed anywhere when he committed to UC. CLF didn't flip him.
Other kids in the class were, most notably meechi, but not with if those two kids.

Would love to start making in-roads for recruiting at the Lakota schools. We always seem to struggle to land D1 talent from them. Let's get him Fick!

RE: FB Class of 2020
From a Michigan fan site:
Quote:Trey Leroux - 3-star, #597 overall, #65 OT (247 ranking)
Another especially large young man, Leroux stands 6-foot-8 and 320 pounds. The Ohio native camped at Michigan this summer, but doesn’t hold an offer. Purdue, Cincinnati and Toledo have pulled the trigger already, though.
Jared Bvycznski - 3-star, #646 overall, #69 OT (247Sports’ ranking)
Can I buy a vowel, Alex? Rounding out this smattering of similarly ranked offensive lineman is Bvycznski, an Ohio native who has offers from Kentucky, Missouri, Wake Forest and Cincinnati, where his older brother plays. He’s visited Ohio State and Michigan State already this season.
Kyle Arnoldi - unranked OG
Another in-state lineman, the Walled Lake Northern native has an offer from Cincinnati so far, but that’s it. He performed well against his Michigan peers at the Elite Big Man Camp in February.
