Fired Coaches
Guess it's that time of year for ADs who want to get the jump on the hiring process. Al Golden just got the axe from Miami, I see, joining Tim Beckman and Steve Sarkisian. Anyone else gone or hanging by a thread?

Looks like Mark Mangino just got the axe as OC at Iowa State.

RE: Fired Coaches
Spurrier got the axe earlier from USC. George O'Leary is hanging by a thread at UCF.

RE: Fired Coaches
I thought Spurrier retired, although it's possible it's a semantic argument; I don't claim to know if SC wanted him out or not. O'Leary stepping down, Beamer gone at season's end...still waiting to see how many more axes fall.

I think Bowden has made a real mistake trying to do a "quick fix" with all those transfers. Not a good way to build for the long haul, and in some cases, there is a reason the player left his previous school. Akron is left with a very strong front seven and respectable secondary, but shaky special teams and an offense that seems to lack a clear identity. I actually think Woodson could be a good QB, but he doesn't seem to get much help.

RE: Fired Coaches
You have to wonder how much longer Richt will last at Georgia. Throw in Flood at Rutgers and how the hell has Bob Davie lasted this long in New Mexico (15-30).

RE: Fired Coaches
I don't understand the Richt situation at all. Looks like Minnesota is going to keep one of the assistants as the new HC.
