Interesting that this is catching on.
Was just at Baltimore Hilton Convention Center for college fair with my son; walked around the corner of a row wearing my UAB hoodie, and I got a "BLAZE ON" from the Auburn school rep! Then, I turned the next corner, and there was a lady all of 5' ft tall (on her toes), wearing a white and green outfit who gave a big "Blaze On!" My wife and son were ecstatic. She was also the most personable of any of the college reps with whom we spoke. Offered my son many degree options for his interests and referred us to several scholarships for which he potentially qualifies. She was very happy to tell me of many interested students looking precisely for UAB, and they were excited about the return of football. I was very happy and proud.
As we were pulling away, I noticed UA's table across the row from UAB and 1 space over. As I turned, I noticed the UA rep listening intently to our conversation with UAB. We made eye contact and she just scowled. Even my wife, one of God's truly nice people, noticed and commented at how obviously rude was the encounter.

The University of BamaFootball has rang up $1 Billion in debt (on UAB's credit line) trying to compete with schools like Ohio State and USC, while trying to starve and shut down UAB's football program, only to have it blow up in their face.
Not only is UAB a better school, but now UAB has a real chance to build an extremely competitive football program thanks to all of the publicity that was generated by the Gumps trying to kill it!

RE: #BlazeOn
The Blaze On catchphrase is something that the student body is very split on. They just started it this year and in my orientation I hated it. I refuse to say it and do most of my friends but the freshmen who had no connection to UAB before are using it. I see it as the Administration trying to change the culture and would much rather use #GoBlazers.

Didn't UAH use the chargeon slogan after the shooting?

Yeah, I myself am torn on it. It sounds a bit odd to me, but maybe it's because it isn't what I've heard at UAB for the last 20+ years. So, I don't want to dismiss it just because I think it sounds funny.
I grew up in Starkville, MS, and "Hail Sate" was almost never said back then. That phrase has existed for decades, but it was not commonly said like the rallying words of UA and AU in this state. Now, "Hail State" has taken off there. It sounded funny to me at first, but now it doesn't. Maybe "Blaze On" will work for us in the same way.
But "Go Blazers" will also work.

#BlazeOn sounds a lot better than the 2 main catch-phrases in the state!

RE: #BlazeOn
I see it as UAB admin/UAB Bookstore trying to generate buzz with their own hashtag & slogan to counter UAB alumni/fans'/Snoozy's Bookstore's more popular #FREEUAB (and to a lesser extent #FireRayWatts).
A solid "Go Blazers" seems to work just fine, but we have Bama & Auburn with their signature Rowel Tahd & Whar Eagull & someone in admin thinks we need something similar.
The coolest experience I've had is at the Zaxby's drive-thru this summer: the employee saw my UAB hat and said "Ever Faithful." I replied "Ever loyal." As two Blazer supporters who didn't know each other from Adam, we both agreed our exchange was the best thing ever.
Ever Faithful.
Ever Loyal.
It fits with our fanbase MO.

Being a student it is mostly freshman who say Blazeon. But it has caught on and it is growing. But being raised going to all the games and hearing it more I will still always say Go Blazers.

With its limited shelf life, I still like "Fire Ray Watts" for opposing team free throws.

Spit Fire is better than Blaze On.
Blaze On sounds like a weed joke.

#BlazeOn is a Barnes and Noble marketing hash tag that they've used on shirts. If you support Snoozy's, I don't recommend encouraging the trend.

I hope that's intentional. you make money by selling merchandise and what better way than a slogan that can take off nationally. potheads all over the US wearing UAB gear
