New Stadium Seating
I may have missed it but has there been any detail on seat types for the new stadium besides the usual premium seating at mid field as most school do.

Please for the love of fans, put chair backs on the majority of the seats. There's nothing worse than bleacher seating with no back.

Go Bucs.

Only the midfield seating will be chair backs. Rest will be bleachers. That is just how they all do it.

Doesnt have to be how we do it. For the price tag of this place, seems like we could have good seats

Is it possible to retrofit some of the seats from the dome to go in there?

Definitely not how "they all" do it. Every seat at Mercer has a chair back. One of my favorite aspects of the stadium. Makes the gameday so much better.

12,000 total with 6,000 usable (fire marshall) -- leaving 6,000 year around empty seats available for new stadium and/or Freedom Hall.

They need those seats for graduation twice a year.

To me, putting bleachers is just the next in several mistakes they have made regarding the stadium.

A chair back? Makes it sound like it's an actual chair, when in fact it's just a bench with a back to it like Kermit-Tipton Stadium.

I would love to have real "chair backs" like Freedom Hall and the Dome, but may not be affordable unless people like us step up and donate money specifically to that.

There's around 6,000 empty seats in the Dome year around no matter the event, per the fire marshall. So, put those to use at the new football stadium and/or Freedom Hall if at all construction and cost possible. Or, fix the fire marshall issues and start using the Dome as often as possible for money making events around the indoor practice calendar.

What mistakes have they made regarding the stadium?

RE: New Stadium Seating
There are more than 6,000 seats being used for graduation, regardless of whatever is said about the fire marshall issue

The stadium:
1) the time this has taken to announce, design, and break ground as well as lack of public effort for fundraising is probably the worst mistake
2) the horseshoe design is crazy. Endzone seats for a stadium this size should not exist
3) the quality of seats is probably the most important feature of the stadium, aside from not having a track around it. Putting bleachers in is a big missed opportunity.

RE: New Stadium Seating
The new stadium design is quite attractive at first glance but after looking at it I
think what we have is a pretty high school stadium.
It appears that we are building pretty but not practical.
The horseshoe design is laughable. Your best seats are on the side.No one wants
end zone seats. Almost 1/3 of the seats will be undesirable seats
It does not appear that there are plans for future expansion. As it is designed now
the box seats, the press box and the concession stands would have to be torn down
in order to expand ---not good planning.

RE: New Stadium Seating
Didn't we model our design after UNC-Charlotte? If so, it appears the bleacher seats all have the backs, similar to Kermit Tipton. I can't tell from our renderings what the plan is for our new stadium, but I also haven't heard anyone say officially what the seats will be like. I think until someone officially says that only the midfield seats will have backs, then everyone needs to settle down on that.

Also - tons of colleges put students in the end zones. And at quite a few of them, students even have to pay for tickets, in addition to the activity fee and they still have full sections. End zone seating isn't what kills student attendance.

Most of those colleges do not have a student base as apathetic as ours when it comes to sports. We are trying to build something special, something that will make up for the entire generation of lost sports fans that we have encountered. We literally have retirees and young people as fans, and hardly anything in between. The retirees will die one day, and we had better hope that something happens with the current group of students to make them a sports supporter for life. If not, ETSU might as well shut football down again. Putting them in the end zone in a crappy seat is not the best way to accomplish this.

No there is telling the truth and there is trolling. You are doing the latter.

The stadium is being modeled after the UNC Charlotte Jerry Richardson stadium which looks amazing. Their stadium, like ours will be, was designed with expansion in mind.

I would image that not all of the student seating with be end zone, probably about half. If they want the good seats then they better get them early. Same goes for general admission. If they want better seats then buy season tickets. They're not that much. If we are selling enough tickets where the end-zone seating is filling up then that is a good problem to have.

<sarcasm>How embarrassing it must be for UNCC to play in this "pretty high school stadium". </sarcasm>
