Herd fans!!
If, and it's a big if, both WKU and MU are undefeated in conference play come Black Friday, how many of you will come to BG for the game?? BTW, I was at The Joan last year!! 04-cheers

RE: Herd fans!!
I'd say many of us will. I know several of my family members are coming. Although I have to admit, I find it hard to believe that we can keep up with WKU's offense. Ours is not built for scoring bunches of points this year.

BTW, I used to work for a business located on Pedigo Way. Went to BG multiple times a year from 86-97.

If we are playing for a birth in the CUSA championship, I would expect 5-6k marshall fans at that game.

Come one, come all! As my late father used to say, we will treat you so many different ways, you're bound to like one of 'em! I like the rivalry we are building with A history-rich program like Marshall. Hope it turns into a special rivalry. I think it will.

That would be about 1/3 of the ones who showed up (Marshall probably had 18k butts in the seat) for a Marshall team playing at home and 11-0 at the time.

It also means a lot of those fans will have to travel to BG on thanksgiving night or get up around 4-5am the morning of the game and make a 4.5 to 5 hour drive for a 11am game that's on TV. Lets not forget...Black Friday is a huge shopping day for some people.

If you do that will be very impressive. I'm going to guess 1000-1500 which will be more than any school since Western moved up has brought to a Western game. And still impressive for this being played on Black Friday and a early morning game.

If the game was on a Sat evening earlier in the year I would say 5k. But Black Friday at noon means probably 1000. I won't be there because of work. If it was on Sat I would be there.

2 years in a row. Looks like black Friday will be the norm for this game. Personally, I'd rather end the regular season with Middle, but Marshall sure is a good back up. Especially if it means something for both teams.

RE: Herd fans!!
My wife and I always host about 16 family members around Thanksgiving weekend (a weekend full of food, football, food, shopping, food, games, and food). I've never been to a game home or away as this is the big family event of the year for us.

I have traveled back from the future (after all, traveling back to the future occurs this week with the Cubs winning the World Series) with a photo from the game. The Sports Almanac says Herd wins.

RE: Herd fans!!
I think the Marshall crowd will be fairly light. We usually travel well, but a Friday noon (to us) game the day after thanksgiving is tough. Our group has about 14 tickets and if it's for the east championship we will be there. To put that in perspective though, we have 38 going to Charlotte, had 30 at OU, 28 at Kent, and have 24 going to Middle.

Don't worry though Marshall fans, not sure WKU will have much more either that day...I know I will not be able to make it to that one...

That's why I was surprised WKU had a decent group travel to Marshall last year. Tough day to travel for most people. And WKU lost a hour to boot with the time zone change. I expect 500-1000 Marshall faithful and any thing more I'll be impressed.

Looks to me like we had more than 1,000 the last time we went. From that picture, looks like we have just as many fans as WKU does on that side.

That's a Miami OH game with the same colors. Read the endzone. I will decide last minute whether to make the trip. I just can't plan that far out.

Yeah I was about to be confused. Lol. I don't recall Marshall ever being at WKU.......or at least not in the FBS era

I'll be coming from Austin for that one if it comes down to it. OK, I'll be back in Huntington anyways visiting family for Thanksgiving, but yeah, I'll probably be there.

Our attendance wasn't great for that game last year, but I'd argue there were easily more than 20K butts in the seats there.

There were. People have to remember that half full is 20,000 people in the Joan and that TV shows the visitor side. When facing the visitor side on the left you will see open space. That is because no one comes to support their team when we play against CUSA teams.

We may only bring 1000 to your school, but you brought less than 100 to ours. For some that includes their team.

You work hard at being a ass...don't you? I said maybe 18k and another person says 20 and you get offended. I bet you can't prove you were at the game..you're one of those "TV Fans" that love to brag about their school but rarely support it with dollars or your ass sitting in a seat. I can prove I was there and I can prove the OP was there...can you?

Marshall was 11-0 going for a undefeated season and a News Year day bowl and ...your complaint is about the visiting team not bringing enough fans...OK

But if Western had less than 100 Marshall had less than 700 from the 50 to the endzone on the visitor side

and if Western had less than 100 Marshall maybe another 800 in the corner of the endzone and the end of the home side..you get the point. From my view the stadium looked about 50% full but if Western had less than 100 I would have to lower that because the Western fans were sitting in a tighter group. If you blow the below pictures up there's huge gaps in between fans that don't show in scaled down pictures.

A long shot of the 50 down which is misleading because you cant see all the open spaces

RE: Herd fans!!
I'm not offended by your post. I am offended that people feel if we only bring 1000 it's not enough. And I go to every home game and several away each year.. But you're right. I can't prove it. Sorry I don't keep my ticket stubs for a year. You can however ask many of the other Herd fans on this board, most of whom I know personally from meeting them at the games and tailgates. Like I said half full is 20k. I agree that number is probably accurate. As for tickets sold (money made is what really counts) none of the rest of you east division clowns will ever be close. And your away game following amounts to "why bother."

So your assumptions about me are as wrong as they can be. But maybe that was the push I needed to attend the WKU game. Perhaps we can discuss it further at that time, if you even go to the games and aren't one of those "TV fans."

When it looks like there are only 15k in the stands, you can be sure I'm one of them. Even your own fans think you're a douchebag. Ask Marshall's fans about their opinion of me.

PS I've got 3000 posts in 13 years. You've got 3000 posts in 3 years. Who's working hard at being an ass? I've not read anything from you that wasn't some backhanded bull**** that's only purpose was to troll or slam no matter what the topic is. Now go **** yourself.
