Coach's kids go to school with my nephew and nieces. I think it is imperative that they all graduate together. Preach team, be team. My brother's oldest kid is 8. The way I figure, we get him for at least 10 more years. 04-cheers

Now, to find that donor that can foot a $3-4million salary for a coach...

That's a bit high. Maybe one million for assistants, ice cream, stuff like that. He obviously would be not doing Daddy duty to uproot his babies from their friends, leaving the poor little urchlings sobbing as the u-haul pulls out.

Read an article yesterday that LSU's Les Miles buyout was ~$15 million and that the boosters were ready to ante up. Unbelieveable.

Dennis Dodd of cbssports.com takes a look at Miles and others who might be out of a job on Sunday, the day after the regular season ends for most teams.

How much does one get paid to be the head football coach at Tulane nowadays? Would it be worth it for a MAC coach to look at that opening? I mean, what chance for success do you have down there?

Doesn't really matter. Look at almost any high paying gig and you'll find a list of former coaches that were fired and went on to high paying gigs.

Former Tulane Coaches:
Larry Smith: went on to USC and Mo
Mack Brown: Texas
Greg Davis: Currently O Coordinator at undefeated Iowa
Teevens: Now Dartmouth, formerly Stanford
Tommy Bowden: Currently Akron, formerly Clemson
Scelfo: pros
Bob Toledo: Hit Tulane towards the end of his career, now retired.
Mark Hutson: Pros
Curtis Johnson will be fine. He has a nice pedigree from coaching at the U.

$1,200,000

That's a lot of money for an athletic department that seriously considered ditching football and moving all sports to D3 not too long ago...

You mixed up your Bowdens (Terry is at Akron with his awesome hair).

Also, Tulane has only had one winning season since toying with dropping football and moving to D3 in 2003. Tommy Bowden is the last successful coach at Tulane and the last to have any success beyond Tulane. They had a pretty consistent program through the Bowden era so it's not surprising that those coaches went on to bigger and better things. Getting low-level assistant jobs in the pros (Scelfo was fired last season as TE coach and Hutson is still a TE coach) is not exactly a prestigious or high-paying (relatively speaking).
