In my opinion, if those were the only reasons for their poor performance then Boise State wouldn't do as well as they do year after year. Something else is at work there, don't know what. As for the issue of fans with money, they come out of the woodwork when a team wins consistently.

simple enough. boise is the blue collar school in the state and they have managed to energize their fanbase and donors. If we are asking why nmsu vs ole miss, why is no one asking why gastate and oregon...

As much as we give GA St a hard time, their sample size is much smaller than NMSU's. I think GA St. will go .500 before either NMSU or Idaho.

Unless Miles can win 3 of his last 6 or 7 (unsure if they've had a bye) he's gone. Cobb will likely hire a decent football coach, he does know football and by 2018 they should be a .500 team. If Miles is canned he'll leave more talent on the team than he inherited.

Give Wyoming all the money in the world if you have to search the entire country for players you are always going to be ten steps behind similar team in Ohio, Cali, Florida, Georgia or TX 99 times out of 100.

Yes, I didn't realize what the article cites: only 4 total FBS football recruits from New Mexico.

It's kinda strange, because Las Cruces has, until just recently, dominated the state high school football championships.

But obviously, NMSU has to recruit outside the state.

Gives me some hope going forward though, reflecting that in
Martin's 1st year: 62 scholarship players
Martin's 2nd year: still around 60 scholarship players
This year: 85 scholarship players, though 70 are Freshmen or Sophomores and many are redshirting.

So, we were playing with FCS comparable depth.

It takes time to rebuild, especially given the hole we were in, but if you're going to rebuild you try to develop.

Per Rivals, GA had 255 kids commit to a school last year. 136 were three star or above. We have enough three star and above talent to support five and half competitive FBS teams based on the 25 scholly per year limit. Add in the diamonds in the rough two star and below kids and is easily six. If GaSt gets it going and GS continues what we are doing a good number of out of state programs that will no longer have a buffet of talent to choose from. Us moving up will likely help GT and uga by keeping more GA kids off opposing conference teams rosters.

Boise state has a stronger commitment to athletics than any school in the country.
So much that the school suffers with students writing letters to the local paper complaining about it.
Claims of overcrowded classes and it being impossible to get a workable schedule.
I have read that they have three hundred million dollars in debt for athletic facilities.
They are growing and maybe at some point they can change their focus to the school and not football.

Idaho and NMSU have at times suffered from the opposite .
Having presidents that were anti-athletics .
The president at Boise might as well be the AD.
