RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 6
Southern Miss @ Marshall - The Herd win in surprisingly lopsided fashion.
UTEP @ FIU - FIU by two scores
Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky - Game of the week and a shootout. WKU wins in an entertaining game
Rice @ FAU - Texas Owls are a little tougher.
Portland State @ North Texas - The Mean Green, but uncomfortably close.
LaTech @ UTSA - La. Tech is good, really good. UTSA is better than their record, but in this contest, the canine wins over the bird. beep beep.[/quote]

The 2013 game between Tulane and UNT was very hard-fought. I thought y'all had a bright future in C-USA... Not sure what's happened, but wow.

Southern Miss @ Marshall - close game but USM pulls it out.

UTEP @ FIU - UTEP's freshman QB threw 4 int's on Saturday including 2 pick sixes. Back on track at FIU even though FIU is big favorite.

Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky - WKU looks like the team to beat this year and they get by their rival.

Rice @ FAU - Owls win.

Portland State @ North Texas - UNT gets a close but much needed win.

LaTech @ UTSA - LT wins but tough game from UTSA.

coach can't recruit nor develop players....he won with Dodge recruits...our AD doesn't demand greatness, just cares about getting by, which isn't happening...

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 6
Friday, October 9
USM @ Marshall 23-27. it will get close. USM progressed really visibly over this season.
Saturday, October 10
UTEP @ FIU 13-23. FIU has a very strong defense and oly a mediocre offense will prevent them from piling points on here.
MTSU @ WKU 31-45. May be the match that will decide the fate of the division. Doughty seems to have gotten going. That and the home cooking makes me pick WKU.
Rice @ FAU 21-24. Rice seemed very mediocre lately. FAU seems mediocre all the time. But FAU will be home.
Portland State @ UNT 14-24. UNT should be able to handle Portland State. otherwise they should be objected to well earned ridicule.
LaTech @ UTSA 41-27. Will be close for a while. LaTech seem to have more quality, which should, ultimately, prevail.

Maybe I am just a stickler but anyone who says that Rice-FAU match ends up in "Owls win" has to realize that it is not funny anymore. Yes, we know both teams are Owls. It was funny the first year, so-so the last year, and downright annoying now.

Marshall over USM - At the Joan, Herd by 10

FIU over UTEP - Because it's a home game for the Panthers and because gererally, west teams don't usually play well in the east and vice-versa. Panthers by 9

WKU over MTSU - until proven otherwise, WKU is probably the top team in the league. Toppers by 13

Rice over FAU - Even going east, Rice has enough to pick up the win. Rice by 14

PSU over UNT - It's just a horrendous year for the not-so-mean-Green. PSU by 7

LaTech over UTSA - One of the top teams in the west, LaTech is eager to get back to the CUSA CCG. Tech by 7

RE: Lines in the Sand (C-USA)- Week 6
Southern Miss @ Marshall; 7:00 pm, ET; CBSSN - If this game is decided by 3 points or less, I'm going to say Marshall wins... 4 or more points, it goes to USM.. I"m going to say that it comes to a 6 point win, which means I'm going with USM, but this could go either way.

UTEP @ FIU; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN - Is it possible.. really possible that UTEP goes 0-for on the season in conference. Nope, not with UNT on the schedule.. but they'll toy with it until the end of the year.

Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN (TBA) - The only question is will the Mutts even be able to slow down the WKU offense? Only if they go run heavy and make 1st down on their own offense.... and I'm pretty sure WKU knows it and won't let that happen. WKU in a blowout win.

Rice @ FAU; 2:30 pm, ET; FCS, ESPN (Palm Beach) - The Battle for the Nest (Yep, that's the name it deserves! Even if you're tired of Owls will win jokes.). Both teams are playing below average, but I think Rice finally wakes up and starts to realize what they need to do to be Rice. Take the Rice Owls on the road

Portland State @ North Texas; 5:00 pm, ET - UNT... 4 games.. 67 points total offense. If they lose this one, I think we're looking at a 0-12 season for UNT. But I'm going to be nice and say UNT only goes 1-11, with this being the 1 win.

LaTech @ UTSA; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN - Youd' think that WKU has the #1 scoring team in the conference.. but no. It's actually La Tech (203), followed by USM (201) and WKU (195)... UTSA held UTEP to 6 points in game #1 of the conference.. La Tech? It's just a question of how many multiples of 6 they'll score against the Roadrunners.. and it'll be a lot!

Southern Miss @ Marshall; 7:00 pm, ET; CBSSN...came close to going with USM, but giving the champs the benefit of the doubt since it's in Huntington

Saturday, October 10
UTEP @ FIU; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN...UTEP is pretty bad
Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN (TBA)...Toppers in a close one
Rice @ FAU; 2:30 pm, ET; FCS, ESPN (Palm Beach)...Rice is reeling imo, just have not looked good
Portland State @ North Texas; 5:00 pm, ET; NO Scheduled TV...there's really no reason to pick UNT here, Portland St. has beat Washington St. and nearly beat defending FCS champs North Dakota St. last week
LaTech @ UTSA; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN...going with the heart

portland state played UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA...not the NDSU

still...i wouldn't pick north texas to actually win the game...

Southern Miss @ Marshall - Marshall in a tight one. Home field advantage carries them through.
UTEP @ FIU - Pillowfight of the week. Toss-up.
Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky - Western by a mile.
Rice @ FAU - Rice in a squeaker.
Portland State @ North Texas - Don't screw up, UNT.
LaTech @ UTSA - UTSA will play well and keep it fairly close. Penalties and a couple of turnovers by the Runners seal the deal. Tech by 2 TDs

My picks too. UTSA does have a knack of shooting themselves in the foot with either penalties, turnovers or special team play. Not to mention the worst OC in college football in Kevin Brown.

What I can say is that Jarveon Williams is quietly becoming a POY candidate in CUSA. Tech will need a get a collar on him. Or they can just wait until Brown decides to stop giving him the ball.

Southern Miss over Marshall (Coming Out Party for the Eagles)
FIU over UTEP (It pains me to go against a Western Division member)
Western Kentucky over MTSU (Just not sold yet on MTSU but very close)
Rice over FAU (Rice Wakes up)
North Texas over Portland State (UNT wakes up)
Tech over UTSA (Close one with lots of blood and guts and injuries)

Southern Miss @ Marshall; 7:00 pm, ET; CBSSN... Southern Miss is improved. Marshall has struggled, but has figured out ways to win all but one so far. This should be a competive game with strength (Mar Def) vs strength (USM Off) and weakness (Mar Off) vs weakness (USM Def). Marshall may have a slight special teams advantage and the home field, but I'm gonna be a homer and go with the Golden Eagles by a TD. USM 31 Marshall 24

Saturday, October 10
UTEP @ FIU; 12:00 pm, ET; ASN... I think FIU is the better team, and need this game to have a shot at bowl eligibility. The Panthers will get the win as the Miners have taken a step back this season (partially due to injury). FIU 28 UTEP 6

Middle Tennessee @ Western Kentucky; 12:00 pm, ET; FSN (TBA).. WK seems to be hitting their stride offensively, and their defense is improved over last season. MT has been competitive, but unable to pick up wins in tight games. I don't think they are on the level of WK and La Tech right now, and I dont think this will be a tight game. WKU 45 MT 23

Rice @ FAU; 2:30 pm, ET; FCS, ESPN (Palm Beach)... The Battle of the Owls pits 2 teams that many projected to be off to much better starts this year. Both of these teams need a win badly. For no reason whatsoever, Rice 27 FAU 23

Portland State @ North Texas; 5:00 pm, ET; NO Scheduled TV...One thing NT did better last week in H'burg was not turn the ball over on multiple occasions. This will be a tough game for the Mean Green, but one they need badly for their team and fanbase. NT 30 PS 27

LaTech @ UTSA; 7:00 pm, ET; ASN...UTSA got off to a rough start in the Win/Loss column this year, partly due to the tough competition they faced. La Tech is on the same level as those teams that gave the Road Runners those losses. Driskell and Dixon roll on. LT 38 UTSA 13
