Many of us feel the same, but like it or not you're automatically lumped in to the "Fleck-apologist" camp now.

I'm a huge Hawkins fan as well. Guess that makes me a Hawk-apologist as well.

A few of them can't connect the dots that what's good for Fleck, is ultimately good for WMU.

WMU has enough problems without puzzies for fans.

If Fleck wins, ALL of WMU wins.

Will he stay if he wins? No.

Just like Brian Kelly and other great coaches who won big in the MAC, he will leave.

Cubit would have left too, if he received a generous offer to become a millionaire overnight.

One can only hope we don't replace him with another Bill Clinton like horndog clown show, right? 03-shhhh

If anyone cares what DB and ChipDip think of them, they should re-evaluate their lives.

No more accurate or truer words have been written, and, it works both ways. 04-rock

WMU has enough problems without puzzies for fans.

Quote:If Fleck wins, ALL of WMU wins.

Well, unless he's playing a team Cubit's HC of. Then ALMOST ALL of WMU fans win. 03-wink

Quote:Will he stay if he wins? No.

This year, yes. Next year & forward? Depends on how much. Having a great year? Yeah, as you say, he nor any other coach would be staying...

Quote:Cubit would have left too, if he received a generous offer to become a millionaire overnight.

Didn't Cubit get a potential offer from Iowa State or something like that? I think not being a young coach, and it likely not being the greatest deal + settling in quite well at WMU, it was probably a decent move to stay.

Hawk isn't blowing smoke up people's butts constantly. He's never spoken negatively about past coaches. He doesn't fish for jobs in the middle of the season. He's self deprecating. Hawk doesn't make predictions about championships he wins them. Hawk doesn't blab his every move on social media.

And what's good for Fleck has no connection what so ever to what's good for the University. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your employer is to fly under the radar.

Win or lose, I much prefer our Head Coach over your Brocoach.

Hoping for a competitive, down to the last minute contest and good health to both teams. 04-cheers

It seems to me that Hawk has found whats good for Hawk in Kalamazoo.... Kazoo seems to be his kinda town and WMU is his home......unless he implodes it appears he has a home for life. Unless a new University president sees differently.

My point being is that I will support whoever coaches WMU, until I have a reason not to.

Two completely different styles and personalities.. both have my support. Call me a lap dog or apologist all you want I guess.

I think it is pretty funny that there is so much talk about PJ moving on to greener pastures.

I mean the guy has a career 10-19 record with his signature wins coming against Bowling Green and Central Michigan.

Out of his 10 wins:
2015
- Murray State - division 2
2014
- Murray State - div 2
- Miami OH 2-10
- Eastern 2-10
- Idaho 1-10
2013
- Umass beat them by 1 point in a year they were 1-11

In my opinion if he does not beat CMU this weekend he should be on the hot seat for possible replacement at the end of the year.

^^^^ It's not D2, but it's FCS aka D1AA. Still Division 1. :) And you should include the better wins in 2014, like Ohio (6-6), Ball State (5-7)... and of course the two good ones (@BGSU, @CMU).

Is this suppose to be a defense of his pathetic record? It's not D2? He has two wins against D1 teams that had a full year winning record. Two more against teams that were .500 (I will even give you 5-7 Ball State).

The facts speak for themselves. He has yet to prove that he is an elite coach. For that matter, he has yet to prove he is even a marginal coach.

I am worried about being stuck with him and having to find the money to buy out his contract.

Depends on how you interpret it on being a "marginal" coach. One clearly losing year, stepping in with no coaching experience outside being a WR coach. The other a bowl-bound winning season with 8W taking down the MAC East Champs and CMU on the road... and a proven great recruiter at this point. No, he hasn't proven that he's an elite coach. He's the first one to say that. Even if we went 6-6 his first year here (a better winning % than the 2nd half of Cubit's career here), he still wouldn't be an elite coach. Not in a mere 2 years.

Quote:I am worried about being stuck with him and having to find the money to buy out his contract.

I would say start worrying AFTER the CMU game at home, not before. And truly start worrying if we end up with a losing record.

One minor quibble with your facts......

We beat UMass for our one win when UMass missed an extra point.

Yep, but he won't be. He's boys with a big booster, or that's what we're led to believe.
