Do they grease the opponents footballs up there? Hillar couldn't hold on to the ball when he tried to passage. Hardball has lost 3 like that.
I was thinking the same thing. We have a "greasegate" controversy coming on.
Chips look they hit paydirt with this coaching hire. 1st year, this guy is making an impact.
Enos beat NIU also. Paydirt.
CMU hasn't played a bad game all year, Fleckapologist's alias. So yeah, paydirt.
1st year guy making an impact is pretty big. Wouldn't you say?

Yeah, but can he produce cool videos that show up on ESPN half time shows?
Oh no, he's also not huge on social media with his personal life either, he's a LUUHOOOSER!!
The man just dealt with his cancer, quietly and stoicly. I like how he motivates the players, came in his first year, changed the culture for the better, and lead......by example.

Chimps have put themselves into the West division contenders discussion in week 1. The Broncos could have something to say about whether they stay there.
Frankly, I like our chances.
Oh, and if NIU continues to play as they did today, they don't frighten me.
I don't think you can count on NIU falling apart that way as a strategy. Plus, their defense is fast, physical and smart.

Not counting on anything. NIU's D is carrying them so far. Their offensive woes bear watching over the next several weeks.
I'm of the belief that if our program stays focused on themselves, they'll be OK. Huge game for our conference opener and the opponent has one under their belt (and a huge win as well).
Well. the EMU Eaglets are getting ready for their slaughter down in death valley. I might watch for a while.....

I have to admit I am really impressed with Bonamengo and what's he's done with basically a bunch of FCS-level talented kids; not to mention he's done this while battling cancer. Pretty amazing.
That being said, I still think we matchup well with CMU, and therefore, should beat them (with a bye week). I will be very disappointed if we don't.
NIU, on the other hand, still scares me. I think today was a bit of a fluke, although they have nobody but themselves to blame by shooting themselves in the foot multiple times.
The first door has opened for us (NIU starting 0-1 in conference play). Should go without saying, but we obviously need to capitalize on this AND BEAT cMU next Saturday.

EMU got a gift. One of their guys hit the LSU QB and the ball popped up in the air right into the hands of an EMU player who took it a short distance to the 3. Then they scored. 17 - 14 LSU almost half.

RE: Week 5 gameday thread.
B1G's #1 and #2 barely squeak by huge underdogs today.
It feels like there's a lot of parity in Division I this season (which is a good, entertaining thing). There might not be too many W's to show for it, but the MAC has made competitive games ending within 1-2 possessions that, once upon a time not long ago, would've been blowouts by halftime.
And here we have Indiana and Purdue, the dregs of the Big Ten, each one possession from knocking off 1 and 2.
Those first four weeks are why I'm not too surprised that even EMU is entering the 3rd quarter with LSU down within one possession. It could still be a blowout, but this game would be 31-0 at this point in seasons past.

Thought the same thing. CMU is now officially NIU's kryptonite.

I wouldn't go that far. Rush in my opinion is the best in the MAC, very accurate passer. Their linebackers are still good. Their DEs are good and they have depth. Dean is a good DT. Annesse and Cox are good MAC players, but they will struggle against our WRs. McCord is a really nice TE, something we barely even use.
They do lack depth with the exception of TE and DE. They have zero depth at RB and QB. Their oline is nothing to fear.
So while they lack depth and have one glaring hole, the majority of their starters are hardly FCS level.

RE: Week 5 gameday thread.
EMU game was great. Here's a HUGE SLAP to EMU, in ESPN's Recap Article when asked about the game to the star RB of LSU:
Quote:"We took them lightly because of their record, because they never did anything," Fournette said. "That's on the leaders. That is our fault. We didn't stop the laughing that was going on in practice, so we have to pick it up this week."
