Pretty brief article but every bit of national media which casts the AAC in a positive light is good.

And the writer contradicts himself - I think Temple got the ball rolling, then came the Houston, ECU, and Memphis P5 wins.

"This Cincinnati win wasn’t exactly unexpected considering how well the AAC has played against Power 5 competition so far this season. AAC teams have already toppled the likes of Louisville, Penn State, Virginia Tech and Kansas."
....

"And Cincinnati just helped the conference take the first step in the right direction."

It's just another step in the right direction, not the first.

Looks like the American actually has five or six good teams this year, too bad the bowl tie-ins are probably the worst combination in the six year rotation. The good news is that this should help the American improve their TV deal going forward. Even though UCF is down, there is a good chance most seaons that Cincinnati, Temple, ECU and UCF will be solid in the east. Out west, Houston, Memphis, and Navy are looking like top 25 level programs. I also believe that SMU, Tulsa, UConn, and USF are showing signs of turning things back around. The only program that I am concerned with is Tulane but at least they have a new stadium.

Still bothers the s**t out of me that The AAC was lumped in with the G4's... This (AAC) league is definitely power status and should be consider as one.

What bothers me or should I say what doesn't surprise me. Is how when the American has to fight it way from way back in the pack, when it defeats P5. Then it will be said the defeated P5 must be weak or had one those off days or in the process of having bad year, then they drop down or out of the polls (not that they matter, only poll that means anything is the committee's) but the American never gets into the poll, like say like Michigan, who the press has being dying to validate and put in the polls. The media system is rigged. What the American is going to have to do is hopefully get on schedule, some top tier media darling SEC teams in the future ( as long as they are not afraid) and of course defeat them over a course of years. Then let us see what excuse the media will come up with?

Over time I believe we'll clearly separate ourselves. Keep winning and going to the games and good things will happen. Bowls will get better.

I'd say that it'll take a few years for the AAC to get the accolades it deserves. That being said, they are starting out strong....Hopefully the AAC can end up with the P5. Good luck!
