If we beat Houston by 200 points, take their money, and their women does it become a rivalry then?

I think's it's pretty clear they don't respect "Little Engine's that could". I don't understand why so many Tulsa fans keep tugging on UH's shirt-tail wanting to be noticed?

WTF is the big deal about UH's football history that so many Tulsa fans wish for this to be a rivalry? Is this ALL about the butt hurt of getting purposely humiliated by a vindictive and classless Bill Yeoman? I consider Oklahoma State to be Tulsa's #1 rival, have been since early 80's John Cooper vs Jimmy Johnson era. Arkansas to be the #2 rival, no matter how inequitable the home and home situation has been, and Oklahoma to be the #3 rival.

Rivalries are developed out of respect, competition on the field, in recruiting, and carried by the fans to the board room, Country Club, and bars. Most larger schools do not view the little guy as a rival, whereas the little guy feels differently. Tulsa has not been in one particular conference long enough to have developed a deep seeded rivalry with a peer on somewhat common ground.

From a culture stand point Tulane and Tulsa are much more aligned to develop a football rivalry among AAC members. I would even consider UCF vs TU a football rivalry over TU vs UH or SMU due to the amount of big games played during their time together in C-USA. Almost every UCF vs TU game between 2005-2012 had a lot at stake.

As for SMU and UH they will always view their old SWC brothers who graduated to the Big 12 or SEC as football rivals.

Now basketball is an entirely different animal, IMO SMU and Tulsa do have a rivalry, with some good hatred that dates back to early 2000's. If TU ever starts beating Memphis in basketball on a regular basis a rivalry is likely to develop.

Because the AAC is reunification of (pre 2005) C-USA, (pre/post 2005) Big East, and (post 2005) C-USA, I don't really see any long running rivalries already in place other than UCF vs ECU and USF, or SMU vs Navy (the rare historical national rivalry on a small stage)

Tulsa - Houston Rivalry
Ready to go I hope both teams play well and of course the hurricane win!

I'm excited for the game especially since it's the first conference game for both teams.

It's just another game to us for real though.

Go TU!

Entertaining rivalry in the Houston sports bar we've adopted. Us two Tulsa fans and three UH fans. Expected there to be more Coogs since this spot has a few UH owners/managers and it's Houston after all but we still had some quality words.
